Delightful Seine Original by Kaprielian

Born in France in 1959, Kaprielian has become a Chevalier and an Associated Member of the ART section of the International Academy of Greci-Marino (Italy). He can be classified as a new generation of impressionist painters painting landscapes of the Ile-de-France, Normandy, Brittany and Provence, the riverbanks of Seine through all seasons. His works have been exhibited in respectable galleries in France as well as America. His works became part of the collection of the Royal family of Morocco. He has been painting since 22. He travels throughout the Ile-de-France, Normandy, Brittany, Provence, and the riverbanks of Seine. This original is about 10x20, about 20x30 with ornate frame.

New Cityscapes Capture the Vibrancy of the City

New original paintings by Eugenio. He draws upon philosophy, history and literature for inspiration, and defines the mood and emotions of his work using color. Using oil paint, Eugenio depicts urban scenes in a wistful Impressionist style. As a self-professed admirer of color, his compositions feature vivid hues and radiate with light, a reflection of the artist’s fascination with city life. Eugenio elects to paint people as blurred subjects who almost blend into the scenes around them. This stylistic choice, executed through his unique brush style, shows the harmony of millions of people living and working in the same space. Eugenio’s style shares similarities to the work of Impressionist Claude Monet, but the artist leaves his own mark with his distinct color palette of fiery oranges and golden yellows. Eugenio’s mastery of contrast and movement in his paintings bring them to life, as if the viewer could step into the painting and explore the cities for themselves. Cafes Bonaparte and Le Petit Zinc by Mizerek

Shown at left is a 12x16 oi painting now available, entitled Eve At Le Petit Zinc by American artist Mizerek. At eright is Cafe Bonaparte. Known for his colorful, luminous seascapes and expressive brushwork, Mizerek paints on site, deriving inspiration from coastal locations as well as harbors throughout the world. A central theme throughout Mizerek’s work is his use of light. In Mizerek’s words, “Light alters the color of all objects and touches those nearby. It sets a mood and evokes emotion, which I strive to portray in my work. I often explore various methods to interpret the way I view nature. I prefer marine subjects because I enjoy the way water reflects the floating objects, as well as the sky and time of day. It mirrors shapes and intensifies light. I paint outdoors to capture the light first hand and bring out all its color and luminosity.” In 2016, one of Mizerek’s paintings was purchased by the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. In 2007, 2011, and 2016, Mizerek was chosen as Artist in Residence at the Museum Yvonne Jean-Haffen in Dinan, France, and three paintings were made part of their permanent museum collection. Selected to paint at the Forbes Colorado Ranch, he exhibited and was made part of the permanent collection at the Forbes Museum in New York.

The Beauty of Colourful Country Barns by Zack

Country barns afoot in dramatic colors against a moody sky. This original is 24x36.  A fall-like hue embraces rustic and maybe forgotten New England and Northeast barns. The foundation of G. Zack’s artistic interests can be distilled down to his love of color. In the early days of his stained glass work, masterful use of color was central in his designs. From sparse, contemporary, Mondrian-style compositions to lush, figurative installations, color always took center stage. His love of color lead him to hot glass, which allowed him to blend colors in ways that flat, cold glass techniques could not. Zack’s current work with acrylics presents yet another opportunity for Zack to compose pieces rich with contrasts of light and dark, texture, pattern and mood. 

Protsouk's Infatuation with Human Relationships

Born in Ukraine in 1961, Andrei Protsouk painted from an early age and after HS was accepted into the renowned Lugansk State School of Fine Art, followed by a Masters in Fine Art from the Imperial Academy of Arts in St Petersburg, Russia. It was during this time he was taught by his dream professor Evsey Moiseenko, who was friends with Picasso, Chagall. In 1994 he moved to the US where his work became popular in NY showcased by several galleries and attracting collectors from Coca-Cola to President George W Bush. He has embedded his use of line into all of his artworks, his straight constructive use of line embodies his classical training in fine art in every way. The soul of his artwork is in his infatuation with human relationships, love and beauty, he believes that the universal language in the world is love, and he embraces this in each painting playfully with unique colors, lines and textures not seen in any other contemporary artists work. Liberty in Reverse Glass Painting by Sue Bond

Sue Bond's subjects are Americana-style country paintings, seascapes, iconic NYC scenes and the Eiffel Tower. She learned the technique of painting on glass from her father, Milton Bond, who was one of the foremost reverse glass artists in the U.S.  "I was inspired, as a child, by the beauty of my dad's craft and am fortunate to be able to continue his legacy". She enjoys working with this medium and says the glass makes the colorful shades of paint uniquely vibrant.

A Connecticut native, Sue is also a published children's book illustrator for CT author Thomas Jacobson. Reverse glass painting is a rare, ancient art first practiced in Egypt in the 4th Century A.D. and is also traced back to 13th Century Venice and the Orient.  It became popular in the early 1800's and used in clock faces. The unique art form requires specialized skills as the artist must paint the design on the back of the glass for viewing from the front side. Bora Bora Bored with Snoopy, Woodstock

As the only artist in the world granted the rights to draw the "Peanuts" characters in his own work, Yale Grad Tom Everhart creates vibrant, extremely collectible rainbow masterpieces featuring Snoopy, Woodstock and the gang. JP Dubord's Subtleties of Light and Color

French master artist Jean Pierre Dubord was born in Rouen, France in l949. Although that city remains his favorite subject, he often paints the street scenes of Paris, the Normandy countryside, the beaches of Deauville and the vistas along the Seine. He infuses his work with the subtleties of light and color unique to each season and locale. A multitude of first place and gold medal awards have been won by Jean Pierre Dubord: First Prize of Ville de Canteleu, l982; Gold Medal of Ville de Reuil Malmelson, l985; and the Prize of Conseil General Salon de Pontoise in l985, to name only a few. Mysterious Gotham: Mobsters, Bridges, NYC

Westport River Gallery has several NYC (aka Gotham) originals for sale, including this one at right by US artist Zider. Gotham is a fictional US city appearing in comics by DC Comics, best known as the home of Batman. His residence was first identified as Gotham City in Batman #4 (1940). NY Times journalist William Safire described Gotham as "NY below 14th St, from SoHo to Greenwich Village, the Bowery, Little Italy, Chinatown, and the sinister areas around the base of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges." Batman artist Neal Adams sees the 1940s mobster history of Chicago as the basis for Gotham while writer/artist Frank Miller has stated that Metropolis is NY in the day and Gotham City is NY at night. Locations used as inspiration or filming for the urban portion of Gotham in the live-action Batman films have included NYC, LA, Chicago, Pittsburgh, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong. More information

Mediterranean Reflections by E.J. Paprocki

The lovely villages that surround the Mediterranean Sea reflect the beauty of a timeless region. E.J. Paprocki's paintings at the Westport River Gallery evoke the timeless beauty of nature, a witness to the integration of mankind‚ imaginings and natures gifts: a simple brick path, a plain iron gate, sailboats that mirror the contours of the clouds and seas.

During visits to many of the great museums in the US and Europe, E.J. Paprocki was drawn to the familiar genius of the 19th century Impressionists, and he admired Monet, Pissarro and Sisley. His art is collected worldwide.

Monet's Gardens Blossoming in Westport

Monet’s gardens have blossomed all around the Westport River Gallery, in a variety of shades, sizes and colors. Alexanre Monet, Diane Monet's grandfather, moved to the U.S.from Paris in 1887 at age 24, working as a chef and sign-painter. He was always proud to note he was a relative of Claude Monet. She paints all day, sometimes losing herself into the evening, and is often found painting in the dark after the sun sets. Her work is recognized for its vivid colors, luminosity and depth. Her work is done in oil on canvas, and the look she desires requires the application of many layers. But mostly her work is appreciated for its joyous mood and subjects. Click for others.

Japanese Sumi-E Originals Available by Saffer

A collection of Sumi-E paintings and oils from HM Saffer, which date back to the 1980s, is being prepped for a a display in the coming months. Here is one example, called Wind and Sea. Sumi-Eis an ancient Japanese traditional art form literally meaning ink (sumi), and (E) meaning painting. Sumi-e requires very simple materials; black ink, paper, a brush and water to create unique and distinctive works of art. A single color of ink can suggest many different shades and it is the dynamic quality of strokes that produce the characteristic style of sumi-e. Click to see others by Saffer.

New York City's Light & Movement by Eugenio

There is a unique interaction between light and movement found in the paintings by Eugenio. Shown here is a 24x36, which reflects the varied lights, reflections and even suggests sounds of New York City. He studied at the Beaux-Arts Superior School of Tacna, where he graduated with high honors in painting. He has also achieved superior studies at l’École des beaux-arts in Lima, Peru. Born in Tacna, Peru, Eugenio paints urban scenes in which the people within the painting seem somewhat blurred compared to the cityscape. His compositions are filled with luminous touches of vivid color that reflect the artist's fascination towards city life. He is in his mid-twenties and he has already participated in at least 30 exhibitions.

Chillington's Plein Air Landscape Paintings

Landscape and still-life painter Chillington enjoys the diversity of nature. His plein air paintings explore the ever-changing environment. Layering oil paint thickly on the canvas with his palette knife, he records his perception and experience of a scene. Chillington has studied art at UConn, Silvermine School of Art and the Carving Studio (West Rutland, VT). Born in Shanghai in 1957, Zheng studied at the Central Arts Institute in Beijing and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Estivalet delights with Provence landscapes

New works have arrived by master artist Elisabeth Estivalet, who is collected worldwide. Provence 's rolling farmlands, sun-drenched coasts and looming valleys have always been a source of inspiration to the great painters. Originally a native of Poland Elisabeth Estivalet fell in love with Provence when she settled there in the late 1970's. Though Estivalet holds degrees in both Economics and Philosophy, the countryside of Provence elicited from her a natural artistic talent, and she instinctively embarked on a passionate and lifelong career as an artist. Painting solely with a palette knife, Elisabeth Estivalet taught herself to master the techniques of color management, perspective and composition. Scottish, English Seascapes by Stanley Andrews

Five oil paintings are now available by the late Stanley Andrews, who comes to the Westport River Gallery in Connecticut, from England. He had been a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists for many years. He had exhibited widely in the Midlands and South of England, including the Singer and Friedlander Watercolor Exhibition and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolor. He also taught many classes in painting, influencing the next generation of English painters.
