Gabbert's Frolicking & Lively Bronze Sculptures

The fun and frolicking Bronze sculptures of Jim Gabbert at the Westport River Gallery range from the Flower Girl (right) to The Seven Sisters of the Pleiades. The Sisters is a cluster of blue dwarf stars in the Taurus constellation. The Mayans believed this is where the universe began. Today they are named for the seven daughters of the Atlas and Pleione of Greek/Roman mythology. "My mother said I was always building something out of Tinker Toys or cardboard and scotch tape. Throughout school art classes were easy “A”s for me. However, it was not until college that I realized I had a gift. Early in my junior year one of my professors was frustrated by my lack of progress during a series of life – model drawing sessions.  He handed me a chunk of sculpting wax and said “here, try this." In an amazingly short time I had rendered the female model in near perfect proportion. It was as easy for me as drawing was hard." Each is Bronze with Marble Base. See all statues.

Creations of Sleek, Styled, Simple Stainless Steel

Creations in stainless steel are on display by David Herman. David is a architectural purist, creating sleek, stylized and simple stainless steel sculpture that touch on social issues to whimsy. His engineering mind calibrates the gauge of steel needed to say bonded, and his creative mind then takes over. Subjects range from the heart-warming Mother & Child (at left), and the whimsical Origami Crane, to the vibrant stand-alone Blues Breaker and the modern Morning Has Broke (at right). At his first post-college job at the Tallix Art Foundry, he mastered the ability to manipulate metal by welding, machining, cutting, casting, bending ordinary metal stock to his vision.

Color Bursts of Glass from Mundy Hepburn

New glass bursts are now at the Westport River Gallery in Connecticut from Mundy Hepburn, nephew of legendary Actress Katharine Hepburn. Mundy Hepburn makes blown glass ranging from bowls to giant forms that are filled with rare gas mixtures such as helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon. Glass in the bowls is often mixed with substances for color.

 

New Hepburn Glass Sculptures in Westport

New works are arriving in the gallery this week by Mundy Hepburn, nephew of legendary Actress Katharine Hepburn, who makes blown glass ranging from bowls to giant forms that are filled with rare gas mixtures such as helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon. Glass in the bowls is often mixed with substances for color. For example, the pink comes from gold, while other colors are from different substances. Hepburn is seen here working on a glass sculpture in his studio.

Bronze Elephant Duo Available

Such was the case with Mason-Adams. Her muse first appeared in the form of a horse. An avid equestrian since the age of five, she was consumed with the effort of capturing and portraying the spirit of this magnificent animal. Now, years later, having obtained a formal education in fine art with training in draftsmanship and painting, this passionate interpreter of exaggerated realism has let her talent and imagination flow into bronze.
