French artist Pascal Dabere is the recipient of countless awards for his extraordinary talent, five Gold Medals from France and one from London for his oil paintings and Gold Medals for his work with pastels. Everhart is the only artist with full creative rights to the "Peanuts" characters created by Charles Schulz (1922 –2000). In 1980 Tom graduated from the School of Art and Architecture at Yale University. He got a freelance job drawing renderings of Schulz's characters. Enjoying a Stroll Along the Seine in Paris

A darling new original now available at Westport River Gallery. The plan to build a tower 300 meters high was conceived as part of preparations for the World's Fair of 1889. The wager was to "study the possibility of erecting a iron tower on the Champ-de-Mars with a square base, 125 meters across and 300 meters tall. Selected from among 107 projects, it was that of Gustave Eiffel, an entrepreneur, Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier, both engineers, and Stephen Sauvestre, an architect, that was accepted. Nouguier and Koechlin, the two chief engineers in Eiffel's company, had the idea for a very tall tower in June 1884. It was to be designed like a large pylon with four columns of lattice work girders, separated at the base and coming together at the top, and joined to each other by more metal girders at regular intervals.

Sweet French Village Scene by JP Dubord

Image 10.75" x 14" framed 17 x 20.5"  Jean Pierre Dubord was born in Rouen in 1949, after spending years in the French countryside, he returned to his native city to portray the surroundings of his youth. While Rouen is a favorite subject for his paintings, he often depicts Paris, the Norman countryside, the beaches of Deauville and Houlgate, the cliffs of Caux and Etreat and the scenes along the Seine. He is known for his ability to capture the subtleties of light and color unique to each season. In 1970, he had his first exhibition of approximately thirty paintings in Rouen, a show that was highly praised by art critics. In addition to an annual show in Rouen, he as exhibited in Birdhouse, La Hare, La Rochelle, Osaka, and Quebec and in major Salons of Paris.

Noted French Impressionist Jacques Bouyssou

SOLD  Original art by highly decorated and noted French artist. Born near Honfleur in 1926, Bouyssou became acquainted at an early age with many respected artists such as Friez, Dufy, Lagar and Leprin who were frequent guests in the family home. They became his mentors and teachers. Although he studied architecture at the Beaux Arts de Troyes and drawing with the sculptor Janin, it was not until he moved to Paris and studied at the Academie de la Grand Chaumiere in the studio of Othon Friez that he began to paint. Recognition of his talent came rapidly and in 1955 he had his first one man show in London. A year later, the grand dame of Parisian art dealers, Katia Granoff invited him to exhibit, beginning a long relationship, during which she sponsored many one man shows. In 1987, he received one of the supreme compliments of his career when he was named an official painter of the French Navy. One of his paintings is in the permanent collection of Musee de la Marine in Paris. His paintings have been acquired by numerous French and foreign museums as well as by private collectors around the world. As art critic Maybon said of him " He knows how to capture the passing light, how to create an atmosphere." Superb draftsmanship, supported by clear yet sensitive and harmonious nuances of color, have brought the paintings of this noted contemporary French artist International recognition. Since his first exhibition at the Salon des Artistes Augerons in Paris, he has exhibited in all the major French Salons, as well as in the United States, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, England, Sweden, Taiwan, Japan, Brazil, and Venezuela. A Rural Village Scene by the Cottage

Sold. Now being enjoyed by a clients of the gallery. Sweet and endearing village scene showing woman and daughter feeding chickens in front of a cottage is by British artist William Pitt (1818-1900. Seems like a rural composition that could be from hundreds of years ago or even today (maybe not in Westport). Also shows a horse drawn cart and second cottage. The oil painting is signed and dated in the middle on the bottom, and the image size is 20x28. Vintage original is about 150 years old, way before TV, cell phones, planes, computers, and Facebook. It was a time when Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species. The first commercially successful sewing machine made by Isaac Singer was available. Lopescalcedo's Majestic Marine Compositions

Lopescalcedo was born in Tarma, Peru in 1955 and is part of an exceptional group of painters who graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Lima in the last 15 years. He studied with the renowned artists Leonel Velarde and Felix Rebolledo and, also, studied drawing with the beloved Cristina Gálvez. Colorful Art from Wiillam Alexander Drake

Westport River Gallery has a new collection of originals from the estate of William A Drake. A prominent Canadian/American theatrical designer, painter, printmaker, draftsman, and educator, William Alexander Drake was born in Toronto, and died in Bergenfield, NJ. Drake worked in the early motion picture business in NJ, taught at Yale, exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, he was a scenic artist for live theater in NYC for over 60 years, and was an art director for NBC TV. He created scenery for some of the most famous Broadway plays and his paintings, prints and drawings are in several museum collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Canada. Enjoying the Unique Artistic Style of HM Saffer

Award winning and unique artist HM Saffer has just sent the Westport River Gallery several new vibrant works on canvas and board. In 1965, he went to Paris to take economics classes, but wound up becoming a musician with Hugues Aufray, Jacques Brel and Charles Aznavour. HM Saffer was hired by Barclay Records as a producer and had several hits during the late 1960s During this time he also was chef/owner of two restaurants in Paris and later a third in Ibiza, Spain. However, all during this era he never stopped painting and exhibiting. He took classes at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and had exhibits in Paris and Brussels before returning to the U.S. in 1970. H.M. started his music career with Warner Brothers where he co-wrote the international hit song “Look What They Done To My Song Ma” recorded by pop star Melanie. While at Warner Brothers he painted a 40-foot mural in their Madison Ave. headquarters.

Reflections of William A. Drake's Artistic Talents

William A. Drake was born in Toronto, Canada in 1891. He studied at the Ontario College of Art. Professionally, he was a well-respected designer, painter of Broadway show and television production sets and backdrops (including art director for NBC-TV), printmaker, and draftsman. He was a scenic artist, as well as a supervisor in New York theaters for over 60 years until his retirement in 1975. He also was an instructor of scenic painting at Yale University. His works have been exhibited through the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, Salons of America, Montclair Art Museum, and Venice Biennale (1940), among others. William A. Drake died in 1979 at his Bergenfield, NJ home at the age of 87.

Floral Fantasy by a Peruvian Artist

Huallpa was born in the 1970's in Peru. As a young artist he surprised many people in the art field with his talent and the amount of success that he achieved. He was in fact doing so well that he was able to temporarily reverse the trend in his home country by being able to go from being a successful artist to becoming an art teacher. After graduating from the Peru School of Arts with a degree in Art Instruction he had a chance to practice his craft at the renowned art school Maria Parado de Bellido. After teaching for a period of time Jose began to become aware that he could not continue to work on an art professor's salary when he could be selling his paintings and making a much more substantial income. While watching many of his art colleagues starve to death he has prospered, selling his paintings as quickly as he can paint them. While he still holds on to his love of teaching he has decided to devote himself to painting full time. His paintings can be found in galleries all over the world as well as in the collections of fine art collectors.

Country Houses by Lelia Pissarro

Lelia Pissarro (French, B. 1963), Oil on paper, signed lower right and dated 2005. Presented with a linen fillet. and framed in a carved and antiqued finished wood frame.. 7 1/4"H x 12"W. Framed: 17 1/4"H x 22"W Lelia was born in 1963, and has painted since age four, having been educated by her grandfather, Paulemile and her father, Claude Pissarro. Following an 18 month break from painting one simple image captured her imagination; a photograph taken in the 1950s by her grandfather, Paulemile Pissarro, of two houses on a road under snow in Clecy in Suisse Normandy, where Lelia had spent the first 11 years of her life. Lelia started to paint this scene over and over, exploring the almost endless possibilities of variation in color and light. It was not her intention to paint a series, but this is what it became. In contrast to the Impressionists who were mainly concerned with capturing one subject in changing atmospheres and lights, something that could only be achieved by painting outdoors, she has created all the variations of the one subject in her studio and through her own imagination. For this reason, she is adamant that there should be no unnecessary or pretentious comparison of the work in this exhibition with the many series painted by Monet or her great grandfather, Camille Pissarro.

Seaside Gouache by Paulemile Pissarro

Seaside original by French artist Paulémile Pissarro (1884-1972), Gouache landscape on paper, Matted in a gilt finished frame and glazed. 8 3/4"H x 11 3/4"W; Frame: 17 1/2"H x 20 1/2"W. Paulémile, Camille Pissarro's youngest son, was born in Eragn in 1884. He was bought up in the artistic environment of the family home there and, encouraged by his father, began drawing at an early age. His godfather was Claude Monet who became his teacher and close friend, particularly after Camille's death in 1903. In 1905, he exhibited at the  Salon des Independants  for the first time, showing an impressionist landscape entitled Bords de l'Epte á Eragny, and although his father had supported his desire to be an artist, his mother was eager for him to learn a more practical trade. In 1908, he put aside his artistic pursuits and worked as an automobile mechanic and test-driver, and then as a lace and textile designer, thus allowing him a little time to paint. While he was still working at the lace factory his brother Lucien, who lived in London, asked him to send over some watercolors, and the sale of these encouraged him to leave the factory and dedicate himself to painting.

Dominique Dorie enjoyed the opportunities his location presented him, most especially, the chance to study the many masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum. Although Dominique Dorié had little free time, he felt compelled to sketch. Nevertheless he had several small “exhibitions” of his own, by hanging his work in the evenings on the fences of the Church of St. Germain des Pres. 1977 marked the turning point for Dominique Dorié’s career. He won a scholarship offered by the city of Paris, which enabled Dominique Dorie to enroll in a night course in drawing. As his skills in that field improved, he developed a desire to use color and began to paint in oil. From 1974 on, Dominique Dorié had participated in a number of exhibitions in the towns surrounding Paris. He also had two one-man shows in Paris, and one in Strasbourg between 1982 and 1984. Theatrical Reflections by France's Michel Guyon

Theatrics of the vibrant genre of entertainment art is embodied by the artistic works of French master artist Michel Guyon. In the late 1960s Guyon studied at the Beaux Art School in Nantes, France. With Guyon’s passion for music, opera and painting, the artist also gained experience in theatrical productions. He began creating theater set décor, costumes and posters. Working with Mr. Baty, Michel discovered the drawings of Paul Dauce and Joel Dabin. Guyon worked with them on theater set décor. In the 1970s, Guyon worked on the set décor of several lyrical spectacles, including Figaro, The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, Carmen, Faust, & others. Michel Guyon also worked for the Jean Marais Festival and the Francais Huster Company, “les Treteaux de France” and various summer festivals around France. The artist created scenery for the Angers Opera House and began to paint on canvas. Guyon’s talent of set and costume design permeates his artistic works beautifully. The combination of a poetry of colors and his forceful touch create a unique sense of strength and vibrancy in his paintings.

Westport: Onion Center to Artists' Community

Shown here is a Saugatuck Shores in Westport CT by French artist Mo Gart. Colonists settled along the Saugatuck River as early as 1639. In 1780 George Washington visited the Marvin Tavern in Westport. Westport was officially incorporated as a town in 1835, with land taken from Fairfield, Weston, and Norwalk. For many decades after that, Westport was a prosperous agricultural community and distinguished itself as the nation’s leading onion-growing center. After the turn of the century, Westport gained the reputation as an artist & writers’ colony, and cultural center. It was the home of Norman Rockwell’s Famous Artists School, also the Famous Writers School. Although Westport still retains its cultural roots, the town is no longer an artist’s colony. The Beautiful Autumn Colours of White Birch

Born in Peru in 1952, Bacci is one of a group of extraordinary landscape painters that emerged during the last part of the last decade. Peru has been traditionally a country of figure painters since the Cuzco School painting in the XVII century. But a movement, probably commanded by Bamse Antunez de Mayolo, commenced in the 1970’s. This group began painting their local surroundings so successfully that generated a demand that allowed them to travel and generalized the subject. Bacci came to Lima to study painting in the famous School of Arts of Lima in 1969. Despite strong opposition, he graduated with the highest honors from the school. He was well known for his defense of the traditional landscape that make him consider dropping the school several times. Despite such difficult times, Bacci became in demand and prospered to become one of the best known in the genre.

New Cityscapes Capture the Vibrancy of the City

New original paintings by Eugenio. He draws upon philosophy, history and literature for inspiration, and defines the mood and emotions of his work using color. Using oil paint, Eugenio depicts urban scenes in a wistful Impressionist style. As a self-professed admirer of color, his compositions feature vivid hues and radiate with light, a reflection of the artist’s fascination with city life. Eugenio elects to paint people as blurred subjects who almost blend into the scenes around them. This stylistic choice, executed through his unique brush style, shows the harmony of millions of people living and working in the same space. Eugenio’s style shares similarities to the work of Impressionist Claude Monet, but the artist leaves his own mark with his distinct color palette of fiery oranges and golden yellows. Dominique Dorié was born in Versailles in 1958. At the age of sixteen he began working in the Louvre in a conservation capacity as a restorer of sculptures. Dorie enjoyed the opportunities his location presented him, most especially, the chance to study the many masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum. Eugenio Captures the Swiftly Sailing Crafts

New original paintings by Eugenio. He draws upon philosophy, history and literature for inspiration, and defines the mood and emotions of his work using color. Using oil paint, Eugenio depicts urban scenes in a wistful Impressionist style. As a self-professed admirer of color, his compositions feature vivid hues and radiate with light, a reflection of the artist’s fascination with city life. Eugenio elects to paint people as blurred subjects who almost blend into the scenes around them. This stylistic choice, executed through his unique brush style, shows the harmony of millions of people living and working in the same space. Eugenio’s style shares similarities to the work of Impressionist Claude Monet, but the artist leaves his own mark with his distinct color palette of fiery oranges and golden yellows. Ukrainian born G'Ma's Painting to Mrs. Roosevelt

Liza was born in Nova Kraruka, Ukraine, and had six children with her husband before immigrating to the U.S. in 1905. One of those children was Arthur who along with his wife Anne went on to become important art collectors based in NYC. Another was with Mostly Mozart for many years, and his wife with the famous Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance studio. Liza began painting very late in life at 75 relieve the pains of arthritis in her fingers. Her use of bright colors and playful pastoral imagery garnered her many fans, including the owners of Gallery Sixty Two in NYC, where she had an exhibition in the early 1950s. Liza died in 1955 just shortly after a major highlight in her painting career; the opportunity to present former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt (seen at left with the artist) one of her originals in person at the U.N. Glass prints from originals are exclusively available at the Westport River Gallery.

Ukrainian Artist Delights with Love, Beauty

Born in Ukraine in 1961, Andrei Protsouk painted from an early age and after HS was accepted into the renowned Lugansk State School of Fine Art, followed by a Masters in Fine Art from the Imperial Academy of Arts in St Petersburg, Russia. It was during this time he was taught by his dream professor Evsey Moiseenko, who was friends with Picasso & Chagall. In 1994 he moved to the US where his work became popular, showcased by galleries and attracting collectors from Coca-Cola to President George W Bush. He has embedded his use of lines into all art, his straight constructive use of line embodies his classical training in fine art in every way. The soul of his art is in his infatuation with human relationships, love and beauty. He believes the universal language in the world is love, and he embraces this in each painting playfully with unique colors, lines and textures not seen in any other contemporary artists work.

Shown here is Mon Ami, signed/numbered limited edition lithograph. Tom Everhart is the only artist with full creative rights to the "Peanuts" characters created by Charles Schulz (1922 –2000). In 1980 Tom graduated from the School of Art and Architecture at Yale University. He got a freelance job drawing renderings of Schulz's characters. He then began working with "Peanuts" imagery exclusively. In 1980, he was introduced to cartoonist Charles Schulz at Schulz's studios in Santa Rosa, Calif. A few weeks prior to their meeting, he, found himself involved in a freelance project that required him to draw and present Peanuts renderings to Schulz's studios. Preparing as he would the drawings and studies for his large-scale nature related paintings; he blew up the cartoonist's strips on a 25-foot wall in his studio which eliminated the perimeter lines of the cartoon box, leaving only the marks of the cartoonist.

NYC in August about 7 am by S. Schachter, considered among the top commercial artists in the country. It is estimated his art is in 1 of every 3 households in the US. Products labels, cereal boxes, Snoopy for Met Life, and even Fred Flintstone. This is a severely embellished giclee on canvas, 28x48. Schachter knew since childhood that he wanted to pursue art. His parents, however, insisted that he go to business school. Schachter attended Boston University where he received a business degree in 1982. Post grad, he traveled the world. He spent two years wearing a three-piece suit and working in the eyeglass business. His watershed moment occurred in France during a business meeting. Schachter had brought an unlikely companion along on his travels: his watercolors. “I was passing through the beautiful French countryside on my way to the meeting. I kept thinking about how I couldn’t wait to paint it after the meeting was over.”
