Baras was born in Lima, Peru in 1977 and showed exceptional artistic talent at a young age. He studied painting, drawing, sculpture, and etching as part of his artistic training. He graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes. His paintings display an extraordinary realism. Nature is the primary source of inspiration for his works. one must be a consummate observer to get the best results. "The simplest things or nuances go unnoticed by most people. Passion is a vital underpinning of any good artist. Brazilian born S. Guccione went to college and graduated with degrees in journalism and art in Sao Paulo.“At the age of 25 I moved to Rome, where I had the opportunity to meet the most wonderful artists and attend many workshops and classes where I learned to work with different styles and mediums. I learned a lot from my mentor Giorgio Michetti who passed away in 2019 at the age 105. I truly enjoy working with oils, and my favorite style is impressionism. Equestrian is the theme that really brings back wonderful memories of my childhood in Brazil where I rode as well and raised horses.”Her mentor was born in Viareggio, Italy, in 1912. At 17 he had his first exhibit. His works add up more than 2000 paintings which have been exhibited in Italy, Switzerland & Austria. The Italian artist who lived through two wars, one of them as a soldier, also suffered the loss of two wives. He met Pablo Picasso in Nice and has opened his art to other techniques such as painted pants and a car.

Castellon Paints New York City to Native Cuba

R. Castellon is now showing at Westport River Gallery. The Cuban-born Impressionist artist based in the US took his first steps referring to art from an early age. Completing his art education where he spent four years of effort and dedication which enabled him to overcome and achieve the bases of what would be the beginning of his career as an artist. In 2004 he graduated with satisfied results and won several awards for being a well integrated student of Fine Arts and best student in four years. Then he continued his studies and got his degree as “Instructor of art” without losing the link with the artistic endeavor by which he continued to participate in collective and personal exhibitions that provided his artistic recognition in Cuba, Spain and Denmark. Grand View of the NYC Skyline by Schachter

NYC in August about 7 am by S. Schachter, considered among the top commercial artists in the country. It is estimated his art is in 1 of every 3 households in the US. Products labels, cereal boxes, Snoopy for Met Life, and even Fred Flintstone. This is a severely embellished giclee on canvas, 28x48. Schachter knew since childhood that he wanted to pursue art. His parents, however, insisted that he go to business school. Schachter attended Boston University where he received a business degree in 1982. Post grad, he traveled the world. He spent two years wearing a three-piece suit and working in the eyeglass business. His watershed moment occurred in France during a business meeting. Schachter had brought an unlikely companion along on his travels: his watercolors. “I was passing through the beautiful French countryside on my way to the meeting. New oils have arrived by French master artist Dorie. He was born in Versailles in 1958. At the age of sixteen he began working in the Louvre in a conservation capacity as a restorer of sculptures. Dominique Dorie enjoyed the opportunities his location presented him, most especially, the chance to study the many masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum. Although Dominique Dorié had little free time, he felt compelled to sketch. Nevertheless he had several small “exhibitions” of his own, by hanging his work in the evenings on the fences of the Church of St. Germain des Pres. 1977 marked the turning point for Dominique Dorié’s career. Though Paris is the center of art in France, working there can be accompanied by many distractions. At the age of twenty-four Dominique Dorie decided he needed surroundings with greater calm and quiet, so Dominique Dorie moved to a small village on the edge of the sea in Normandy where he has worked to improve his handling of both light and color. The artist who hung his work on the fences surrounding the church of St. Germain des Pres has traveled a long distance.

Some say HM Saffer has a unique perspective of nature. When he looks at woods, he looks into the woods. He interprets nature with all his senses, and allows the viewer to see through new visual parameters. H.M. Saffer was born in Philadelphia in 1942. After graduating from Temple Univ. in 1965, he went to Paris to take economics classes, but wound up becoming a musician with Hugues Aufray, Jacques Brel and Charles Aznavour. He was hired by Barclay Records as a producer and had several hits during the late 1960s During this time he also was chef/owner of two restaurants in Paris and later a third in Ibiza, Spain. However, all during this era he never stopped painting and exhibiting. He took classes at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and had exhibits in Paris and Brussels before returning to the U.S. in 1970.

Okumura grew up in Philadelphia and has been creating art for over 15 years. She attended Syracuse University in addition to receiving her MFA from Boston University. She has a strong comprehensive knowledge of the Art Market: Modern and Contemporary Art with diverse and extensive Fine Art experiences such as Operations Manager, Fine Art Consultant, Design Associate, Adjunct Educator at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and currently sits on the board as co VP and founding Exhibition Chair for National Association of Women Artists, Inc. Mass. Her use of color and creative texture lend harmoniously from the natural world and her heritage of both Eastern and Western influences. She derives inspiration for her oil and acrylic paintings of a wide variety of subjects, which she hopes conveys a sense of motion and evoke a wide range of emotions.

Guyon's Flashy World of the French Cabaret

Two new originals on the way! Theatrics of the vibrant genre of entertainment art is embodied by the artistic works of French master artist Michel Guyon. In the late 1960s Guyon studied at the Beaux Art School in Nantes, France. With Guyon’s passion for music, opera and painting, the artist also gained experience in theatrical productions. He began creating theater set décor, costumes and posters. Working with Mr. Baty, Michel discovered the drawings of Paul Dauce and Joel Dabin. Guyon worked with them on theater set décor. In the 1970s, Guyon worked on the set décor of several lyrical spectacles, including Figaro, The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni, Carmen, Faust, & others. Michel Guyon also worked for the Jean Marais Festival and the Francais Huster Company, “les Treteaux de France” and various summer festivals around France. The artist created scenery for the Angers Opera House and began to paint on canvas. Guyon’s talent of set and costume design permeates his artistic works beautifully. The combination of a poetry of colors and his forceful touch create a unique sense of strength and vibrancy in his paintings.

 

 

Charles Gehm's Delightful Countryside Originals

Several original oils by the late Charles Gehm of Connecticut include this darling image of turkeys on display at the Westport River Gallery. He also did a series of limited edition Gone With The Wind prints and Grimm's Fairy Tales plates, and posters for the films Barry Lyndon, The Island, The River, The Betsey, and Death on the Nile. In 2002, The board of the NYSE selected him to create their annual Christmas card. Also a fine artist, he received numerous awards, and his oil paintings have been shown in galleries in NY, AZ., OH, MA. and CT. The turkeys are 22x36, and the gazebo is 30x24.

The Beauty of "Dawn" and "Dusk" Bronze Statues

Dawn and Dusk are taken for granted....one we awake and start the day, the other we consolidate the day's activities until they are but memories. Sculptor J. Gabbert has created cast bronze works of art that capture both the start and end of the day. They each has a marble base, and Dawn is 20"x7"x10." Both are from an edition of only 12, signed by the artist.  "My mother said I was always building something out of Tinker Toys or cardboard and scotch tape. Throughout school art classes were easy “A”s for me. However, it was not until college that I realized I had a gift. Early in my junior year one of my professors was frustrated by my lack of progress during a series of life – model drawing sessions. He handed me a chunk of sculpting wax and said “here, try this." In an amazingly short time I had rendered the female model in near perfect proportion. It was as easy for me as drawing was hard." Each is Bronze with Marble Base.

 

Central Park by the late Bogomir Bogdanovic

Originals by the late Bogomir Bogdanovic (1923-2011) consist of breathtaking landscapes dotted with brightly-clad people pursuing their daily activities. He was especially proud of his award winning canvases of NY’s Central Park and rural scenes in and about Warwick, NY, and neighboring Sussex County, NJ. I paint everything, he used to say, but not abstractions. He preferred his art to be recognizable; it's an amazing experience to watch a painting reveal itself, be it on paper or canvas. He very much enjoyed painting on location and rarely used photographs unless he had taken them himself. For several decades, he was a familiar sight, smoking his cigar and mixing his paints along the local highways and byways. Despite occasionally bad weather, he was known to endure many long hours in snow and ice waiting to capture his subject in just the right light. Capturing the Dramatic Power of NYC Bridges

New England born J. Bye captures the elusive complexity many artists miss, from the decaying solo apartment bldg in Brooklyn, to the infrastructure of NYC's Queensboro Bridge, which sees over 180,000 cars day and at which the Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises was filmed in part. The power and immensity are captured in a contrasting and beautiful blend of colors, reflection, movement and power. “The development of a work of art is what interests me most as an artist. What this entails is not just painting one interpretation of my subject, but expressing reactions towards it at different periods of time. The painting becomes a record of a journey, revealing layer upon layer of my exploration through spontaneous brushwork. The goal with which I approach a new painting changes often dramatically in the course of the work's creation. Thus, at the time the work is completed with the final result often completely different from the one originally intended-one comes to realize that the most beautiful part of the creative journey is not its fickle and fleeting goal, but the journey itself." Who comes up with a title such as Line Dancing for laundry dancing on the line? Artist Mike Smith. Landscape and still-life painter Chillington enjoys the diversity of nature. His plein air paintings explore the ever-changing environment.
