French Landscapes & Villages by Caudron

Dr. Caudron's paintings are based on a perfect match of the diverse structures of motifs - through skies forcefully crushed to grounds that offer surprising perspectives - and, while the artist is wandering on the chromatic scale with enthralling boldness, there is nothing he dares not do.Such balance in his works allows the eye to travel nowhere else than on the painted surface. The balance of the bold color palette juxtaposed with the seemingly surreal perspective allows one to be immersed within the work itself, eliminating the notion of the two-dimensional surface. The subjects of the works stand on their own, supported by the innovative use of an old master knife technique combined with a saturated use of color in its purest form. The works themselves appear to be effortless, despite the fact that the works were achieved thanks to extreme rigor. Caudron is a man of intensity; while his primary profession is as a diabetes physician, his interests have also guided him to the titles of pilot, sailor, glider, husband, and, expressionist-impressionist artist. His passions in part stem from a love of character homes, “out of proportion” rooms, and reading. Caudron was born in France in 1947 and has exhibited for two decades. Enjoy the Lavender Fields by S. Guccione

Passion is a vital underpinning of any good artist. Brazilian born S. Guccione went to college and graduated with degrees in journalism and art in Sao Paulo.“At the age of 25 I moved to Rome, where I had the opportunity to meet the most wonderful artists and attend many workshops and classes where I learned to work with different styles and mediums. I learned a lot from my mentor Giorgio Michetti who passed away in 2019 at the age 105. I truly enjoy working with oils, and my favorite style is impressionism. Equestrian is the theme that really brings back wonderful memories of my childhood in Brazil where I rode as well and raised horses.”Her mentor was born in Viareggio, Italy, in 1912. At 17 he had his first exhibit. His works add up more than 2000 paintings which have been exhibited in Italy, Switzerland & Austria. The Italian artist who lived through two wars, one of them as a soldier, also suffered the loss of two wives. He met Pablo Picasso in Nice and has opened his art to other techniques such as painted pants and a car. A man who at his long age has understood that the most important thing is to share knowledge and passion.

Dramatic Floral by French Artist JP Courchia

EJ Paprocki's Timeless Beauty of Nature

EJ Paprocki's paintings evoke the timeless beauty of nature, a witness to the integration of mankind‚ imaginings and natures gifts. A simple brick path, a plain iron gate, sailboats that mirror the contours of the clouds and seas. During visits to many of the great museums in the US and Europe, Paprocki was drawn to the familiar genius of the 19th century Impressionists, and he admired Monet, Pissarro, and Sisley. Through careful study, Paprocki found direction in his own artistic vision. His subject matter evolved from cityscape to the country, the gardens the rural path, distant sailboats, the floral still life. This is 20x24.

 

York's Endearing Countryside Scenes

New works are on display at the Westport River Gallery from J. York, including these two oil paintings. At left, the cows are 18x22, and the girl and rooster is 11x14. York has been an illustrator for thirty years, and has worked for many book publishers including Ballantine, Berkley, Dorchester, Harlequin and Zebra. For many years she worked in oils, but her introduction to the digital medium proved to be the start of a love affair that continues to this day. She has also continued to create works of fine art in oils. Her paintings have been shown in NY, Scottsdale AZ., Atlanta GA. and now Westport. Among the many public and private collections that display her work, she is proud to include the R. W. Norton Art Foundation of Shreveport, LA.

Beautiful Blossoming Art of Diane Monet

Diane Monet’s gardens have blossomed all around the Westport River Gallery, in a variety of shades, sizes and colors. Alexanre Monet -- Diane grandfather -- moved to the United States from Paris in 1887 at the age of 24, working as a chef and sign-painter. He was always proud to note that he was a relative of Claude Monet. She paints all day - sometimes losing herself into the evening - and is often found painting in the dark after the sun sets. Her work is recognized for its vivid colors, luminosity and depth. Her work is done in oil on canvas, and the look that she desires requires the application of many layers, so her work is quite time-intensive. But mostly her work is appreciated for its joyous mood and subjects. Shown here are signed glclees

Michel Ferran Original Landscapes & Florals

Shown at right is the newest original on the market by the late Michel Ferran, a French artist. The picture is 29x36. Born in 1943 close to Narbonne, Ferran, photographer and painter since childhood, decided in 1992 to open a workshop and consequently became a professional painter, primarily focusing on the landscapes of Provence. His painting evolved quickly to a purified stylization of the subjects and forms. Working the paste and the colors together, it carved its fabric of a pallet containing blue, ochres, yellows and reds, highlighting the light to create unique effects. His talent was noticed by collectors and publishers. His pictures were then collected across Europe, and the U.S. He passed away in 2003. At left is one additional original available,16x32

Fresh and Clear Artistic Images from Olaf

Olaf uses color, light, and brushwork to achieve visual harmony. His large works create a statement, whether your home is a quaint Colonial in Milford, a larger home on the Upper East Side, or the vacation home in the Hamptons or Palm Beach. Pissarro: Walking Among the Rhododendrons

One serigraph available by famed artist Claude Pissarro. Hugues Claude Pissarro, father of lelia Pissaro, is the grandson of the Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro (at left) and son of Paulemile Pissarro. Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine and enveloped in an artistic environment, he spent his childhood and youth with art. Carrying on a family tradition established by Camille Pissarro, his father frequently took Hugues on painting excursions, accompanied by his numerous artist friends, and these proved formative for him. Gabbert's Frolicking & Lively Bronze Sculptures

The fun and frolicking Bronze sculptures of Jim Gabbert at the Westport River Gallery range from the Flower Girl (right) to The Seven Sisters of the Pleiades. The Sisters is a cluster of blue dwarf stars in the Taurus constellation. The Mayans believed this is where the universe began. Today they are named for the seven daughters of the Atlas and Pleione of Greek/Roman mythology. "My mother said I was always building something out of Tinker Toys or cardboard and scotch tape. Throughout school art classes were easy “A”s for me. However, it was not until college that I realized I had a gift. Early in my junior year one of my professors was frustrated by my lack of progress during a series of life – model drawing sessions.  He handed me a chunk of sculpting wax and said “here, try this." In an amazingly short time I had rendered the female model in near perfect proportion. It was as easy for me as drawing was hard." Each is Bronze with Marble Base. See all statues.

The Mysterious Forest Insights by HM Saffer

 

Award winning and unique artist HM Saffer has just sent the Westport River Gallery several new vibrant works on canvas and board. This oil on board is about 16x48, great for hanging over a sofa or mantle. In 1965, he went to Paris to take economics classes, but wound up becoming a musician with Hugues Aufray, Jacques Brel and Charles Aznavour. HM Saffer was hired by Barclay Records as a producer and had several hits during the late 1960s During this time he also was chef/owner of two restaurants in Paris and later a third in Ibiza, Spain. Gentle French Classic Art by Pascal Dabere

French artist Pascal Dabere is the recipient of countless awards for his extraordinary talent, five Gold Medals from France and one from London for his oil paintings and Gold Medals for his work with pastels. His honorable mentions are many and stem from all over the world. Dabere is in numerous private collections and exhibits continuously, in Holland, Belgium, Britain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Canada. Born in 1956 at Saint Jeoire in Faucigny he studied painting at Ville de Paris, on rue Lepic. He is a master of trompe l’oeil, still life and landscapes, which are filled with his enchanting clouds.

Central Park, the Jewel of New York City

Artist Wayne Shilson's latest works are of New York City's famed Central Park. At the a garden near the Conservatory, and at right the Boathouse area. He uses the time-consuming style of pointillism, the same painting style as George Seurat and Paul Signac. Shilson paints in acrylics, using tiny dots to bring an image alive. The award-winning artist, listed in International Biographical Centre Cambridge England, was named among the 2,000 Outstanding Artists and Designers of the 20th Century, and Who's Who in American Art. He was awarded an arts grant to paint and draw an updated version of the impressionist painter Camille Pissarro's urban landscape series in Paris.  Shown here are two among th series, both 16x20.

Estivalet's Colorful Countryside of France

The enamel-looking oil paintings by Elisabeth Estivalet of Provence reflect the endless & colorful countryside of southern France, impressions of houses, robust trees and gardens. Provence’s rolling farmlands, sun-drenched coasts and looming valleys have always been a source of inspiration to the great painters of history, including Elisabeth Estivalet. Lecomte's Unique View of Brittany, Provence

After studying visual art, Lecomte began focusing her interests on the art of watercolor. She developed a unique technique, creating soft and colorful works featuring her native Brittany. Homage to Red by French Artist Caudron

New paintings are soon on the way from France to the Westport River Gallery. Caudron was born in France in 1947, and admits he is fond of France's sunlight. Lover of character homes and out of proportion rooms, former glider pilot, passionate about sailing, gliding as well as reading. He has exhibited his works for two decades. The way the surface is used purifies to the greatest degree the subject, made even more obvious by dismissing any ornament. Such a feeling of the painting, such a magnificent spirit can rarely be seen and the combination of the two render a dazzling result, which makes one, under the spell, forget that is was achieved thanks to extreme rigour. Lighthouses & Poppy Fields by Dominique Dorie

If you've had an interest in smaller works by noted French Impressionist Dominique Dorie, stop in. Six new works have landed, including the two shown here. Dominique Dorié was born in Versailles in 1958. At sixteen he worked in the Louvre as a restorer of sculptures. Dominique Dorie enjoyed the opportunities his location presented him, most especially, the chance to study the many masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum. He had several small “exhibitions” of his own, by hanging his work in the evenings on the fences of the Church of St. Germain des Pres.

France's Mo Gart Delights with Modern Florals

New original oil paintings at the Westport River Gallery include fresh creative works with a modern twist by noted French artist Mo Gart. Mo Gart is a multiple gold-medal winner in France for her mastery of light, landscapes & seascapes. She is known for a variety of works, from flowing waers with birds and boats, to timeless landscapes, and mood pieces with colorful backgrounds. Her new works include unique florals with a cubist slant, complete with shades of red, yellow, pale blues, greens and pinks. The new works are 20x24, with one larger piece, with sunflowers. Huchet, Zarou French Lithographs Available

A variety of lithographs have come in to the Westport River Gallery from French artists including Urbain Huchet and Victor Zarou. Huchet was born in Rennes, France in 1930. After studying law and owning a textile factory for years, he decided in 1960 to devote himself to painting. He spent his first three years as an artist in Port-Aven, following in the footsteps of Gaugin and Emile Bernard, both of whom influenced him. Huchet is a master of Contemporary Impressionism. His paintings and lithos celebrate a wide spectrum of life ranging from delightful vignettes of the Parisian scene to the inspired beauty of dramatic seascapes and the French countryside. Many of his paintings express his love of the sea and the Brittany coast. After moving to Paris in 1963, his love of adventure and travel led him to spend time painting and writing in Europe, the Middle East and South America where he produced marvelous imagery capturing the essence of the lands and people. He made 14 trips of more than 4 months each, from Mexico to Brazil, via Peru, Central America and the Caribbean islands. A luxurious portfolio of lithos of Egypt shows his love of that country. His wonderful depictions of circus performers, musicians and everyday people were strongly influenced by his adventures and sojourns in foreign lands. Exhibitions of his work have been held throughout he world. Paris, however, is where the largest number of his works were produced. At least 300 editions of lithographs have been printed of his works, all produced by the artist himself in workshops in Paris and Cannes. Click to see them all.

Energetic Sunflowers by Kate

Nobody does sunflowers like Kate. Full of life, energy, and depth. Kate is an award-winning photographer and painter.  After years of working in the publishing and advertising industry Kate took some time off from the professional world to raise her four daughters. She went back to school to receive her BFA in Fine Arts with a major in painting and photography. She devotes her time to both painting and photography. She is a member of Oil Painters of America, the prestigious Salmagundi Club of NYC, Allied Artists of America, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the Southern Vermont Arts Association, and the Ridgewood Art Institute.

Just came in, a darling little 11x11 Poppy fild by Dominique Dorie. Dominique Dorié was born in Versailles in 1958. At the age of sixteen he began working in the Louvre in a conservation capacity as a restorer of sculptures. Dominique Dorie enjoyed the opportunities his location presented him, most especially, the chance to study the many masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum. Although Dominique Dorié had little free time, he felt compelled to sketch.

Kerfily's Mediterranean Color Harmonies

New works are here by French Impressionist Kerfily. Inspired by the Mediterranean, the South of France, Corsica, and Greece, Kerfily's enthusiasm for his art is fully evident in his windswept seascapes and timeless, sun-dappled village scenes. Noted for his power to evoke emotion, opulence of light and distinctive color harmonies. Kerfily translates the ordinary moment into the magical, inviting us to be revitalized by the world's simple pleasures.

Later, when she began painting in oil, vibrant images of Provence and Africa became the primary subjects of her work. Since 1993, she has exhibited her paintings predominantly in Brittany, Provence, Paris, China, New York and Westport. Her work is bold, brash and can easily fit into any room, office or study. New Works by Dominique Dorie

Dominique Dorie was born in Versailles in 1958. At 16 he began working in the Louvre as a restorer of sculptures. He enjoyed studying the masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum and felt impelled to sketch them. He had several small " exhibitions " by hanging his work in the evenings on the fences of the church of St. Germain des Pres. 1977 marked a turning point. At 24, he decided he needed surroundings with greater calm, quiet, so he moved to a small village on the edge of the sea in Normandy. In 1985 Dorie exhibited his work in the Salon de Criel and in the Salon d'Orly. In 1986 Dominique Dorie won the Medaille d'Or at an exhibition in Deauville. French Works by Jean Pierre Dubord

New works have arrived by French master artist Jean-Pierre Dubord. Jean-Pierre Dubord was born in Rouen in 1949, and after spending years in the French Countryside, he returned to his native city to portray the surroundings of his youth. While Rouen is a favorite subject for his paintings, he often depicts Paris, the Normandy countryside, the beaches of Deauville, the Cliffs of Caux and Etretat and scenes along the Seine. Jean-Pierre Dubord is known for his ability to capture the subtleties of light and color unique to each season. In 1970, he had his first exhibition of 30 paintings in Rouen, a show that was highly praised by art critics. He also exhibited in Bourdeaux, Le Havre, La Rochelle, Osaka, Quebec and in the major, famous salons of Paris. French impressionist Jean-Pierre Dubord has his own original approach to painting. His palette is rich in its tones, is fresh and uplifting.

French Artist Jean Claude Tron

Born in 1943 in Champagne sur Oise, France, Jean Claude Tron began to paint at the age of thirteen. At sixteen he started work, but his desire to paint was so strong that he continued his art studies through evening classes. Despite fulfilling numerous commissions and holding exhibitions of his work at several prestigious galleries, Jean Claude did not begin to dedicate all his energies to painting until 1990. Since then he has seen his reputation grow steadily throughout Europe and the United States, where his work is in constant demand and his originals sell for commanding prices. "I do not paint formal landscapes that represent a particular place which then binds us. I prefer a different world, a world that radiates warmth and happiness, leaving space to dream..."
