Impressionistic World of Jean-Claude Duteil

The Westport River Gallery has several new pictures available by French Impressionist Jean-Claude Duteil, who was born on the banks of Seine in 1950 to a family very much involved in the arts. His father was the Chief Restorator at the Louvre in Paris and his grandfather was the well-known Naif artist Camille Bombois. Jean-Claude Duteil was interested in the arts at an early age and began painting at 13, launching his debut exhibit in Paris shortly thereafter, Duteil maintains the fundamental traditions developed by the Impressionists, dedicating his time to the natural study of shifting light upon land and sea. French Seascapes by Dominique Dorie

New works are on display by French master artist Dominique Dorié. Dorie was born in Versailles in 1958. At 16 he began working in the Louvre as a restorer of sculptures. Dominique enjoyed the opportunity to study the many masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum. Although he had little free time, he felt compelled to sketch. Nevertheless he had several small "exhibitions" of his own; by hanging his work in the evenings on the fences of the Church of St. Germain des Pres. 1977 marked the turning point for Dorié's career.

Private Collection of Pissarro Artworks

For private viewing Westport River Gallery has an exclusive selection of about 15 original works by Famous Impressionist Camille Pissarro & his sons, grandson & great grand daughter (Lelia Pissarro). Ltd Viewing of Lelia Pissarro's Monet's House

Westport River Gallery has a premiere oil painting available from Lelia Pissarro, entitled Monet's House. It is 26x32, with a wood gold frame, located offsite and available for viewing for serious buyers only.  Lelia Pissarro's Impressionist works hail back to a time when great grandfather Camille Pissarro fathered the Impressionist movement. Lélia, born in Paris in 1963, is the daughter of H. Claude Pissaro and grand-daughter of Paulémile. As a child she lived in Normandy with her grandparents and was taught to draw and paint by her grandfather Paulemile Pissarro. Paulemile's godfather was Claude Monet. French Countryside & Paris by Kaprielian

New Yetvart Kaprielian oils at the Westport River Gallery in Connecticut highlight the French countryside, and the beauty of Pars. Yetvart Kaprielian has been listed in the E. Benezit, the prestigious world-recognized "Who's Who" of painters and sculptors since 1999. Born in 1959, Yetvart Kaprielian has been painting since 22. He travels throughout the Ile-de-France, Normandy, Brittany, Provence, and the riverbanks of Seine. Kaprielian expresses through touches of luminous and sparkling colors a harmony of reflections. Nadine Lecomte's New Soft Florals

Nadine Lecomte has a unique technique, creating soft and colorful works featuring her native Brittany. Later, when she began painting in oil, vibrant images of Provence and Africa became the primary subjects of her work. Since 1993, she has exhibited her paintings predominantly in Brittany, Provence, Paris, China, New York and Westport. Her work is bold, brash and can easily fit into any room, office or study.

Dec 4 Holiday Show Features Art & Music

Enjoy some wine, a lovely harpist playing traditional tunes to “Stairway to Heaven,” speak with American artists, and appreciate the new French and British art art by Dorie, Dubord, Kaprielian, Lecompte, Wilkinson (see pugs). Scottish, English Seascapes by Stanley Andrews

Five oil paintings are now available by the late Stanley Andrews, who comes to the Westport River Gallery in Connecticut, from England. He had been a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists for many years. He had exhibited widely in the Midlands and South of England, including the Singer and Friedlander Watercolor Exhibition and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolor. He also taught many classes in painting, influencing the next generation of English painters.

Retriever, Pugs by Sporting Artist Henry Wilkinson

Several new ethings just came in from England. British artist Henry Wilkinson works alone in his studio and workshop in rural Kent, still producing his limited editions entirely single-handed. From origination, to hand engraving his metal plates and eventually printing and finishing the editions, the work is entirely his own. He even produces his own printing inks.

Lithographs by Andre Bourrie Available

Several new signed. limited edition (125 only) lithographs are on the way to the Westport River Gallery by famed French artist Andre Bourrie, known for magnificent paintings of the French countryside and sea. His works are acclaimed for their brilliant use of sundrenched, white light and rich, iridescent palette. His paintings are in collections worldwife. Here is Courtain Marin, 18x22.

Provence Highlighted by new Dorie Oils

Several new original oils have arrived at the Westport River Gallery from the studio of Dominique Dorie, including the 12x12 at left. Click for others available. Dominique Dorié was born in Versailles in 1958. At the age of 16 he began working in the Louvre in a conservation capacity as a restorer of sculptures. Dominique Dorie enjoyed the opportunities his location presented him, most especially, the chance to study the many masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum.

Everyday Life With a Fanciful Twist by Jan Balet

Jan Balet was born in Bremen, Germany in 1913. After receiving an education, Ballet settled in America in 1938. Jan Balet’s works are cited in articles and books worldwide. His works depict the joys in life as well as the irony and mystery that surround our daily experiences with a tad of fanciful lightness. Westport River Gallery in Westport, Connecticut has several signed lithographs by Jan Balet. Each is 20x24 and among only 300 created in the 1980s. Lelia Pissarro in Camille's Footsteps

Lelia Pissarro's Impressionist works hail back to a time when great grandfather Camille Pissarro fathered the Impressionist movement. Lélia, born in Paris in 1963, is the daughter of H. Claude Pissaro and grand-daughter of Paulémile. As a child she lived in Normandy with her grandparents and was taught to draw and paint by her grandfather Paulemile Pissarro, and at the age of 5 she sold her first canvas to NY art dealer Wally Findlay. The Fauvist Colors of Jean Claude Tron

French artist Jean Claude Tron is passionate about the southern region of France, Provence, which remains his source of inspiration (this is also true of many artists, including Elisabeth Estivalet). The extravagance of the colors he uses betrays the influence of Fauvist Expressionism, with brilliant yellow, deep blues, strong reds, shades of violet and vivid green. His canvases are characterized by simplicity of form which represents the natural order of the countryside, while the thickly applied blocks of color make the fields vibrate with light. Yetvart Kaprielian Delights with Paris Scenes

Since 1984, Yetvart Kaprielian has regularly been shown in several galleries in Paris and at exhibitions in France and abroad. Most recently Yetvart Kaprielian work has become a part of the Royal Family of Morocco. His honors and awards include: Chevalier et Academien Associe, Art de l'Academe, International de Greci Marino, St. Prize de Salon de Roissy en France. Yetvart Kaprielian is among the few selected to be in the international registry of the world's best artists, E. New Works by Dominique Dorie

Dominique Dorie was born in Versailles in 1958. At 16 he began working in the Louvre as a restorer of sculptures. He enjoyed studying the masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum and felt impelled to sketch them. He had several small " exhibitions " by hanging his work in the evenings on the fences of the church of St. Germain des Pres. 1977 marked a turning point. At 24, he decided he needed surroundings with greater calm, quiet, so he moved to a small village on the edge of the sea in Normandy. In 1985 Dorie exhibited his work in the Salon de Criel and in the Salon d'Orly. In 1986 Dominique Dorie won the Medaille d'Or at an exhibition in Deauville. Dubord's French Countryside

While Rouen is a favorite subject for his paintings, French master artist Jean Pierre Dubord often depicts Paris, the Normandy countryside, the beaches of Deauville, the Cliffs of Caux and Etretat and scenes along the Seine. Jean-Pierre Dubord is known for his ability to capture the subtleties of light and color unique to each season. This lovely picture just arrived this week, and is not even framed. A work by this artist at this size (about 28x36) is priced worldwide at about 7000.00. This is offered for only 4700.00. We also have other exclusive works by Dubord.

French Works by Jean Pierre Dubord

New works have arrived by French master artist Jean-Pierre Dubord. Jean-Pierre Dubord was born in Rouen in 1949, and after spending years in the French Countryside, he returned to his native city to portray the surroundings of his youth. While Rouen is a favorite subject for his paintings, he often depicts Paris, the Normandy countryside, the beaches of Deauville, the Cliffs of Caux and Etretat and scenes along the Seine. Jean-Pierre Dubord is known for his ability to capture the subtleties of light and color unique to each season. In 1970, he had his first exhibition of 30 paintings in Rouen, a show that was highly praised by art critics. He also exhibited in Bourdeaux, Le Havre, La Rochelle, Osaka, Quebec and in the major, famous salons of Paris. French impressionist Jean-Pierre Dubord has his own original approach to painting. His palette is rich in its tones, is fresh and uplifting.

French Artist Jean Claude Tron

Born in 1943 in Champagne sur Oise, France, Jean Claude Tron began to paint at the age of thirteen. At sixteen he started work, but his desire to paint was so strong that he continued his art studies through evening classes. Despite fulfilling numerous commissions and holding exhibitions of his work at several prestigious galleries, Jean Claude did not begin to dedicate all his energies to painting until 1990. Since then he has seen his reputation grow steadily throughout Europe and the United States, where his work is in constant demand and his originals sell for commanding prices. "I do not paint formal landscapes that represent a particular place which then binds us. I prefer a different world, a world that radiates warmth and happiness, leaving space to dream..." Introducing French Artist Guyon

French Artist Michel Guyon studied at the Beaux Art School of Nantes at the end of the sixties and gained experience in theatrical practice. He became passionate for opera, music, and painting which brought him to create theatre decorations, costumes, and posters. In the seventies, he worked on lyrical spectacles and amassed numerous decorations as set designer for the operas Noces de Figaro, The Magic Flute, Don Giovani, Carmen, and Faust. His talent with decoration shows through his beautifully realized artistic works, a mixture of a poetry of colors and a strong touch of glaze, attesting to Guyon‘s wonderful talent as a painter. Elisabeth Estivalet: Beauty of Provence

Although Elisabeth Estivalet has degrees in both Economics and Philosophy, the countryside of Provence elicited from her a natural artistic talent, and she instinctively embarked on a passionate and lifelong career as an artist. Painting solely with a palette knife, Elisabeth Estivalet taught herself to master the techniques of color management, perspective and composition. What resulted are candid renditions of a tranquil and serene Provence. Elisabeth Estivalet's sunny landscapes bring to mind the works of the old Post-Impressionist masters. Her subject matter and artistic style are reminiscent of the masterful works of Paul Cézanne. Bulan Offers Colorful, Vibrant Art

French artist Stephane Bulan's premier exhibition was in 1977 at Galerie Drouant in France. Today several works are offered at the Westport River Gallery in Westport, Connecticut. The artist delivers a punch utilizing vibrant yellows, blues, greens and other primary colors in his work.

Hawkins' New English Country Scenes

New work are now available at the Westport River Gallery by British Artist Stephen Hawkins, a master of inviting country scenes. As a child, Stephen combined an enthusiasm for horses with a love of drawing. He soon displayed a natural artistic ability which led him to produce equestrian and countryside paintings using a variety of medium. 

Since moving to Sussex years ago, Stephen has concentrated on oil paintings, mainly of the South Downs region. These capture the subtle changes of light and shade throughout the seasons. To see other available works at the Westport River Gallery, click here.

New Henry Wilkinson Originals Arrive in Westport

New works are now available by famed British artist Henry Wilkinson. For more of his new works, click here. British Sporting Artist Henry Wilkinson is 88 this year, and still paints his original oils, his etchings and dry point. He was born into an artistic family, his father having been taught to paint by John Ruskin, eventually became the Headmaster of Winchester College of Art. It was whilst living in Winchester that the young Wilkinson learned the first skills of Gun Making, climbing out of the scullery window in the evenings to work, unknown to his farther, at the famous gunmakers 'Hamond of Winchester'. It was at Hammonds that he first became fascinated by engraving, learning from the craftsmen who decorated the metalwork on the hand-made firearms. Today Henry Wilkinson is one of the last remaining qualified Muzzle Loading' gun maker in the country.  Master Etcher and Artist Henry Wilkinson is also referenced on the website of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Exclusive Works Available by Pissarro

Westport River Gallery now has an exclusive selection of 12 original works by Famous Impressionist Camille Pissarro and his sons, including Paulemile Pissarro, the youngest. One of his drawings is above. Prices for the works by the Pissarros are $400 (for serigraphs by Lelia Pissarro, Paulemile's grand daughter) to $25,000 for a 100-year-old work by Camille. Born in 1884, Paulemile was raised in the artistic environment of Eragny. His godfather was Claude Monet, who became his tutor and close friend, particularly when Camille died in 1903. He exhibited at the 'Salon des Independents' until 1908, when financial difficulties forced him to look for paid employment. He found work in Paris designing lace and embroidery. In the 1920's he met the artist kees Van Dongen, with whom he shared a studio, and Maurice Vlaminck. Works by British Artist Hawkins

New original oil paintings have just arrived from British Artist Stephen Hawkins. As a child, Stephen combined an enthusiasm for horses with a love of drawing. He soon displayed a natural artistic ability which led him to produce equestrian and countryside paintings using a variety of medium. Since moving to Sussex 16 years ago, Stephen has concentrated on oil paintings, mainly of the South Downs. These capture the subtle changes of light and shade, throughout the seasons. The inclusion of sheep and cattle in many of his landscapes helps to convey the peaceful atmosphere of Downland life. His paintings have been exhibited at the Royal Society of Equestrian Artists and at various exhibitions around England, and at the Westport River Gallery. The top picture is Spring Walk, 20x30.

Spotlight: Paris Bistro by Yetvart Kaprielian

Yetvart Kaprielian is highly decorated in the art world, and his works are collected internationally. This oil painting is 10x20, and with frame about 19x29. It comes directly from the artist and captures the bistro scene and shoppers during one afternoon in Paris. Born in France in 1959 of Armenian descent, the work of this French neo-Impressionist painter has been exhibited widely since the 1980s. Yetvarti Kaprielian is most noted for his paintings of the Ile de France, Normandy, Brittany and Provence. Westport Scenes Available by French Artist

Westport River Gallery in Westport, Connecticut, now has oils of Westport, Fairfield and Southport beaches and boating areas.

Born in Brussels in 1956 Henri Lepetit is almost larger then life, an Indian Jones character who seems to have done everything, from bagging spitting cobras in the Ivory Coast when he was only 13 to fighting in a Squadron of the S.A.S! With skydiving an ongoing hobby he has been a world adventurer who has extracted every possible emotion from his incredibly varied lifestyle. Art has always had a dominant place in his life and this natural talent means that from the early age of 16 he paid for many of his world trips by painting and selling his works en route. With no formal art education he has always had to rely on the public at large to be his severest critic.

Alex Perez: Impressionist Works

Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1946, Perez is a fourth generation of artists. After graduating from the ‘Academy of Fine Arts’ in Santiago, he worked in his father's studio - the Ibero-Chilean painter Eduardo Perez - where he acquired most of his artistic knowledge and skill. On his father’s side, Alex Perez is the fourth generation of artists trained in fields ranging from painting to architecture. His Spanish ancestors restored murals and frescos in the ancient cathedrals of 18th century Spain. Perez inherited his love for music from his mother's family, of which came the Philharmonic Conductor Victor Tevah. The inspiration Perez derives from music is reflected in the rhythmic lines and colors of his paintings. Perez’s work fuses a sophisticated color sensibility with a romantic realism approach, and he expresses his own passion and "joie de vivre" by recording Nature on the canvas.
His color technique imbibes the shifting of light as day progresses from dawn to dusk and back again, the vividness of colors breathing life and vitality in to the canvas.

His extraordinary landscapes reflect a peaceful and harmonious ambience, as a means of transporting the viewer to a serene and contemplative visual experience. Perez uses numerous techniques to create oils, acrylics, watercolors, drawings, engravings, prints and murals. His fine art also includes works of stained glass and sculpture in stone.
