Autumn Colors Reflected in Olaf's Originals

Te lovely Angel of the Waters, at the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park NYC. Its among the largest fountains in NY, 26 feet by 96 wide. It was the only sculpture to have been commissioned as a part of Central Park's original design. This neoclassical sculpture features an 8-foot bronze angel who stands above four small cherubim representing health, purity, temperance and peace. The picture is 30x40, and oil on canvas. Angel of the Waters was designed by Emma Stebbins in 1868 and dedicated in 1873, at which point she became the first woman to receive commission for a major work of art in the city of NY. He captures the movement of water, as well as the freshness and clarity of sunlight, which seems to glisten on his surfaces. In describing himself as well as other artists of representational art, he writes: "Each dab is stimulated by the details that I observe; we see what others miss and then make it compelling. We proudly push and alter the colors to suit our ravenous needs. We improvise right on the spot." Each is 30x40

Who comes up with a title such as Line Dancing for laundry dancing on the line? Artist Mike Smith. This unique composition is 12x48 and can brighten up any room in home or office (or large yacht) The simplicity of the countryside, combined with earthen colors make the new works by M. Smith very enticing for home and office. Smith was born in South Africa and raised in Zimbabwe, and later moved to Canada in the late 1980s. His career continued as an award winning multinational art director/creative director, until he decided to move out into the country to paint full-time in 2003. Click for others.

After initially studying architecture, he attended the Salisbury School of Art, followed by in-depth studies with the UK's Michael Chase. Empire State Building via the Brooklyn Bridge

The Empire State Building as seen through the fabled Brooklyn Bridge, in this black/gray & white original by Olaf.
