The power of color by Stephane Bulan
Born in 1954 in La Rochelle, Stephane Bulan studied journalism. His first career as a journalist and caricaturist was a success professionally, but not spiritually. In 1975 he began to devote his full time to fine art painting and found the true success he sought. Bulan’s premier exhibition was in 1977 at Galerie Drouant in France. The exhibit sold out within 12 days. The artist delivers a punch utilizing vibrant yellows, blues, greens and other primary colors in his work. His images are strong and proud and there is cleanliness to his form that is paramount in his artworks. Bulan has an outstanding ability to employ exciting colors and yet fill each canvas with captivating warmth.
The artist’s subject matter is impeccably the south of France. His seascapes present silent horizons and one can feel the breeze of the ocean beautifully translated by his use of textures and his application of his oils. Bulan commented, “the bouquets I create reflect the beautiful women who bloom them”.
Even with his
intense colors, Bulan incorporates a certain liberty and serenity in each of
his canvases. Bulan’s work has been widely collected and exhibited throughout
Europe, North America and the Orient. Exhibitions Royan Les Sables D'Olonne
