Plan to Fall into Fall with Okumura

New creation at Westport River Gallery by award-winning Asian-American artist J. Okumura. This is 48x60. The ultimate fall picture. J. Okumura grew up in Philadelphia and has been creating art for over 15 years. She attended Syracuse University in addition to receiving her MFA from Boston University. She has a strong comprehensive knowledge of the Art Market: Modern and Contemporary Art with diverse and extensive Fine Art experiences such as Operations Manager, Fine Art Consultant, Design Associate, Adjunct Educator at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and currently sits on the board as co VP and founding Exhibition Chair for National Association of Women Artists, Inc. Mass. Her use of color and creative texture lend harmoniously from the natural world and her heritage of both Eastern and Western influences. She derives inspiration for her oil and acrylic paintings of a wide variety of subjects, which she hopes conveys a sense of motion and evoke a wide range of emotions.

Yan Yi brings the innocent and creative mind of a child to life on paper using ink and watercolor. The innocent and creative mind of a child comes alive with the help of a highly acclaimed Chinese woman. Enjoy the colorful, fun and poetic original drawings by a young lady from Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, China. They feature a young lady with award winning intensity of hair, and augmented by a kitten, ladybug, parrot. The young lady has a childlike curiosity for her objects. Yan Yi attended the Xi’An Academy of Fine Arts from 2003 to 2007, where she majored in Chinese Painting and studied in the studio of renowned painter Liu Wenxi.

The Poetic Whimsy of Chinese artist Yan Yi

Enjoy the colorful, fun and poetic original drawings by an award winning 29-year-old from Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, China. They feature a young lady with an intensity of hair, and augmented by a kitten, jellyfish, ladybug, parrot. The featured young lady has a childlike curiosity for her objects. Yan Yi (pronounced “yen ee”) was born in 1985. She attended the Xi’An Academy of Fine Arts from 2003 to 2007, where she majored in Chinese Painting and studied in the studio of renowned painter Liu Wenxi1. In 2009, Yan began her master’s in Chinese painting. From 2007 on, her artwork has been featured at dozens of exhibits in China and abroad. See others available.

Japanese Sumi-E Originals Available by Saffer

A collection of Sumi-E paintings and oils from HM Saffer, which date back to the 1980s, is being prepped for a a display in the coming months. Here is one example, called Wind and Sea. Sumi-Eis an ancient Japanese traditional art form literally meaning ink (sumi), and (E) meaning painting. Sumi-e requires very simple materials; black ink, paper, a brush and water to create unique and distinctive works of art. A single color of ink can suggest many different shades and it is the dynamic quality of strokes that produce the characteristic style of sumi-e. Click to see others by Saffer.

Fauvist and Oriental Influences by DNIE

Bold, defined and colorful works of art reflect the unique art by DNIE. A native of Shanghai, China, then a young artist DNIE accepted an art scholarship in the U.S. He holds a Bachelors of Arts from Wake Forest University and a MFA from American University, Washington. During his post-grad years, he studied under a famous Italian Renaissance Art Historian. Elan Magazine has proclaimed that his “Coolligraphy painting” is a breakthrough in the history of art. Tibetan Antique Furniture

Westport River Gallery has a limited number of authentic Tibetan antique furniture available.

There are two chairs (29x29, height 39"), a table (34x24, height 21"), and three small chests (Each are 13 to 17 inches high). The chair and table can be used at home, the office, or a second home. They are all very sturdy, and are made with hardwoods and some pine. All are in excellent condition.

At left and below are some of the pieces. In addition there are two other small chests one with drawers, which can be used for jewelry, to display glassware, statues.
