Born in Normandy 1927 to an Italian father and Russian mother, Yolande Ardissone left Normandy at 17 to study at the Ecole des Arts Appliques in Paris. Two years later she transferred to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts* and studied in the atelier of Unterstellar. In 1953 she was inducted into the Salon d’Automne. Wally Findlay Galleries began representing Ardissone in 1957, hosting her first one-woman show in the U.S. Ardissone has won numerous awards due to the lively sensitivity of her paintings and her firm and balanced compositions. Her art is painted with a mature technique, forcefully, with textured paint radiating a natural and joyful dynamism. Ardissone's painting have a lot in common with the Fauves.
