The artist has had several careers, some in the writing field, and comes from a family that has included a top expert in African Tribal Art, the owner of a high end frame shop for some of the world's leading artists, the owner of an art store in NYC, a primitive artist whose work was likened to Grandma Moses' style and accepted by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and hung in their NY residence, and a noted violinist with Mostly Mozart in NYC. Gert is a typical outsider artist, creating personal styles, from boat scenes to confetti art. Today, Gert works primarily with acrylics on canvas. Gert's work has been collected coast to coast, from Calif, Fla, Penn, NJ and CT. Collectors have said the work is inspirational, and makes them feel good. Like the famous artist Marc Chagall once said, "If a symbol should be discovered in a painting of mine, it was not my intention. It is a result I did not seek. It is something that may be found afterwards, and which can be interpreted according to taste." Gert lives in Connecticut. Gert's exclusive agent is the Westport River Gallery in Connecticut.
