France's C. Privat: Refined Sense of Floral Tradition

Born outside of Paris in 1935, Colette Privat embarked on her painting career after her studies at the École d’Arts. Her education and artistic ability brought her renown and prominence as the “Peintre de la Réalité”. For recognition as an outstanding artist, her works were received at the prestigious salon Societe Nationale des Beaux Arts in 1991. At that time, her exhibits from the galleries in Paris to the galleries of Japan, made her an artist of great demand. Colette Privat’s impeccable floral paintings embody both a sense of tradition in the simplicity of the arrangement and a breath of life and freshness in the delicacy and softness of the brushstroke. Jean Pierre Dubord was born in Rouen in 1949, after spending years in the French countryside, he returned to his native city to portray the surroundings of his youth. While Rouen is a favorite subject for his paintings, he often depicts Paris, the Norman countryside, the beaches of Deauville and Houlgate, the cliffs of Caux and Etreat and the scenes along the Seine. He is known for his ability to capture the subtleties of light and color unique to each season. In 1970, he had his first exhibition of approximately thirty paintings in Rouen, a show that was highly praised by art critics. In addition to an annual show in Rouen, he as exhibited in Birdhouse, La Hare, La Rochelle, Osaka, and Quebec and in major Salons of Paris.

Shown here is an original pastel by H. Claude Pissarro. Hugues Claude Pissarro, father of lelia Pissaro, is the grandson of the Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro and son of Paulemile Pissarro. Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine and enveloped in an artistic environment, he spent his childhood and youth with art. Carrying on a family tradition established by Camille Pissarro, his father frequently took Hugues on painting excursions, accompanied by his numerous artist friends, and these proved formative for him. Initially taught by his father, Hugues Pissarro first exhibited his work at the age of fourteen. He subsequently studied art in Paris at prestigious establishments such as Ecole du Musée du Louvre and, in particular, at Ecole Normale Supérieur, a unique French institution dedicated to the pursuit of achievement and excellence to which only the academic elite have access.

Born in Paris in 1962, Jean-Francois Bourgeat is a French landscape artist whose background is in art 'graphiques' immediately attracted him to the Impressionist school of painting. He tutored under the great French Landscape Artists, then took his easel to Nature. He paints on location and captures the changing light and reflections in the water along the Seine. His boats and landscapes typify the splendor of lie de France, du Bretagne, and d'Alsace in the south of France. He is indeed worthy of the praise to be amongst other noble artists in the Kevorkian school of art.
