This is an original oil by noted French artist Marie-Lucie Nessi, born in Paris in 1910 and entered art school at 16. As a young student at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, she became friends with fellow painters Foujita, Kisling, Helion. Like so many other artists of her time, she frequented the cafes of Montparnasse in the evenings for inspiration. In 1932, she met and married artist Louis Valtat whom she would have three children with. However, the two would later separate in 1949. Now a single mother, she opens up a small ceramics factory. It isn't until 1958 that she is able to fully devote herself to painting. The bulk of her oeuvre consists of post-Impressionistic landscapes and still life. Her work is housed in public and private collections all over France. In 1971 she signed an agreement with Wally Findlay Galleries, which opened her to the American Market, selling in galleries in Chicago, NY, Beverly Hills, Palm Beach.
