Navigating The Urban Crossroads by Olaf

Large works have arrived by Canadian Artist Olaf, who uses color, light, and brushwork to achieve visual harmony. In describing himself as well as other artists of "representational art," he writes: "Each dab is stimulated by the details that I observe; we see what others miss and then make it compelling.  We proudly push and alter the colors to suit our ravenous needs.  We improvise right on the spot."  On the left you see a vibrant 20x40 glass-like painting "Taxi Reflections" that is available at the Westport River Gallery. Bizinsky's Fauvist Glimpse of French life

Children in the park, playing, chatting. Couples walking in the shadows of imposing trees. Windmills, parkside lakes, boats. Lots of color. That’s the Fauvist (colorful) magic of Robert Bizinsky, American from Atlanta, French by Paris, man of two worlds and many talents. Fauvism developed in Paris in the early 20th century. The Atlanta native was a Post-Impressionist and Fauvist artist. He brought life to the scenes of Paris. From colorful streets surrounding young families in the park, to vividly painted fishing boats. There is a presence of Dufy, Derain and Utrillo reflected in his work. Click for more of Bizinksky's work.

Dramatic Reflections of Iconic New York City

S. Wolf creates original and dramatic reflections of New York City. At left is the Grand Central Station clock at exactly the time the first tower was struck by terrorists and plunged the city into tragedy September 11, 2001. Wolf was there at the time. At right is a 36x24 painting of the well-known and photographed Flatiron building, designed by Daniel Burnham and built in 1902. It was never the city’s largest building but has made a name for itself for being the most dramatic-looking as it is uniquely shaped and narrowly wedged between Fifth Avenue and Broadway. His works also include the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. Wolf, a commercial and fine artist, received his MFA at Washington University and also studied at Northern Arizona University. 

New York, London, and Paris by Alexandrina

New artist to the Westport River Gallery, Alexandrina, has many international roots, showings and awards. Paintings by Alexandrina have been presented as gifts to several leaders of European countries. In June 2010, former Russian Premier, Dmitry Medvedev presented former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and George Shultz, with an original painting by Alexandrina at Stanford University as a “thank you” for giving him a tour of Silicon Valley. "I love old cities. They are like old people: if you take a closer look, you will see a beauty of youth, a charm of bloom and a nobility of age-old traditions." More information coming.
