At the age of sixteen he began working in the Louvre in a conservation capacity as a restorer of sculptures. Dorie's textured canvases display a unique color sense, his clearly blocked, linear approach bring depth and a quiet strength to a rural landscape, a serene harbor, or a shadowed interior.
