The Beauty of Provence by Dominique Dorie

Fresh scenes of Provence in France, and other southern regions. At left is an imposing 29x36. Internationally collected Dorie captures soft, relaxing scenes. Dorie was born in Versailles in 1958. At the age of sixteen he began working in the Louvre in a conservation capacity as a restorer of sculptures. Dorie's textured canvases display a unique color sense, his clearly blocked, linear approach bring depth and a quiet strength to a rural landscape, a serene harbor, or a shadowed interior. Caudron: Pilot, Sailer and French Artist

Dr. Caudron's (French diabetes physician) paintings are based on a perfect match between the diverse structures of motifs - through skies forcefully crushed to grounds which offer surprising perspectives - and, while the artist is wandering on the chromatic scale with enthralling boldness, there is nothing he dares not do. Such balance in his works allows the eye to travel nowhere else than on the painted surface and trace the detail of some knife-shaped pattern which clears the space for flat tints so that the eye is focused on what is of the essence. Sue Bond's Ancient Craft of Reverse Glass Art

New works have arrived by Reverse Glass artist Sue Bond. New England Winter, and the Brooklyn Bridge are dainty works of art, with detail and fun. The craft of Sue and her late father Milton is the ancient medium of reverse glass painting, working in a mirror world in the fine detail of acrylic, ink, and metallic foil, giving a three dimensional luminosity to the exposed glass side when exhibited. The medium was first introduced to him 32 years ago by his beloved sister Mildred, a lover of the arts. In the last 45 years, he has produced over 1,500 paintings, and been featured at the Museum of American Folk Art, NYC; the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford, the Lyman Allyn Museum, New London; the Grand Palais, Paris, France; Link to others.

Vilcaz Inspires Thoughts of Nautical Adventures

France's Corinne Vilcaz is an artist with an imagination free of the constraints of modern classical form.  Her works are often comprised of vibrant colors contrasted against a heavy use of palette knife. Instead of having a focus on the representation of actual shapes, Vilcaz emphasizes the importance of color in bringing forth the true form of art. Working in the Batch & Garonne region of France, Corinne Vilcaz takes her inspiration largely from her surroundings. Vilcaz creates canvasses that inspire thoughts of nautical adventures and that capture the essence of the impermanence of nature.
