We are 2 easy miles from both the CT Turnpike (I-95) and the Merritt (Rte 15). Both intersect with Rt 33. Hours: Wed-Fri 11-2; Sat 11-4; Sun 11-3, or by appointment. Mysterious Gotham: Mobsters, Bridges, NYC

Gotham, Zider, Westport River Gallery BatmanWestport River Gallery has several NYC (aka Gotham) originals for sale, including this one at right by US artist Zider. Gotham is a fictional US city appearing in comics by DC Comics, best known as the home of Batman. His residence was first identified as Gotham City in Batman #4 (1940). NY Times journalist William Safire described Gotham as "NY below 14th St, from SoHo to Greenwich Village, the Bowery, Little Italy, Chinatown, and the sinister areas around the base of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges." Batman artist Neal Adams sees the 1940s mobster history of Chicago as the basis for Gotham while writer/artist Frank Miller has stated that Metropolis is NY in the day and Gotham City is NY at night. Locations used as inspiration or filming for the urban portion of Gotham in the live-action Batman films have included NYC, LA, Chicago, Pittsburgh, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong. More information
