Henry Wilkinson's Delightful Engravings

Shown here are two of four original etchings on the way by the late Henry Wilkinson. Following his early studies at Winchester College of Art, entrance was gained to the Royal College of Art in the painting school. By hard work a place was also gained in the Engraving School under Robert Austin Royal Academy, and Malcolm Osborne. He won scholarships and diplomas and studied in Germany, France & Italy. After the war he was elected to the Royal Society of Painter, Etchers, & Engravers, ultimately as a Councilor. For years he was professor of the Engraving School at the City and Guilds of London. After the death of his mentor in 1954 he began producing his limited edition drypoints of dogs and other sporting subjects. More information.

Pissarro's New Art: Haystacks & Normandy

Shown here are two new original oils by famed artist Lelia Pissarro. Lelia has exhibited in many cities in France, as well as in Israel, Switzerland, New York, Boston, and London. Lelia has formed L'Atelier, a group of French artists who meet regularly to work together. For a short time, she also taught painting in Paris. Lelia Pissarro is the fourth generation of a family of artists. Her father is the artist H. Claude Pissarro and her grandfather was Paulemile Pissarro, the youngest son of the impressionist painter Camille Pissarro. Leila’s early years were spent with her grandparents in Normandy and she exhibited her first painting at the age of eleven at La Jeune Peinture in Paris. She studied with her grandfather and her father and later went to art school in Tours. The legacy continues through Lelia whose oils and pastels show the richness of texture and brightness of color so typical of the Pissarro tradition. More info.

Montmartre by Alphonse Quizet, Utrillo Teacher

Shown here is "Street in Montmartre" by Alphonse Leon Quizet, who was born in Paris in 1885, and passed away in 1955. He became an important member of the school of Montmartre spending his life from infancy to old age on the hill of Montmartre, painting in the streets below the Sacre Coeur. This picture is 8.75x13, excluding frame. The Fauves, Nabis, Post- Impressionists, Cubists, Surrealists drew their inspiration from the school of Montmartre. Maurice Utrillo became his protégé (their paintings were similar and sometimes mistaken for each other). His works were exhibited at the Salon des Independants, the Salon Paris Moderne and the Salon des Tuilleries (1907-55). His work is in the collections of the Musee Nationale d’Art Moderne, the Petit Palais (restrospective in 1976), the Musee des Beaux- Arts and the Musee du Luxembourg. French Port Highlighted by J. P. Dubord

La Fete Dans Le Port is the newest original oil painting by Jean Pierre Dubord, born in 1949. His works make people smile, make you feel you want to join the people bustling around France. His work s light-hearted, unique, interesting, and full of life. His colors are pleasing, and add a touch of sometimes whimsy to your own life. The Benezit-listed French artist's work is collected worldwide. Jean Pierre Dubord was born in Rouen, France. Although the city remains his favorite subject, he often paints the street scenes of Paris, the Normandy countryside, the beaches of Deauville and the vistas along the Seine. He infuses his work with the subtleties of light and color unique to each season and locale. A multitude of first place and gold medal awards have been won by Jean Pierre Dubord. The new picture is 18x22, excluding frame size. We have about a dozen oils available.

Urban Landscapes from Spanish Cubist Malvehy

Eduardo Malvehy has received several awards such as the First Prize in Aix-en-Provence, and the Silver Medal in Evian and Arles. His paintings have been exhibited in Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany and the United States. Malvehy, born in Barcelona, has developed his style during his many years of travel throughout Europe, searching for the rich variety of the traditional architecture of villages unique to each region. Malvehy's favorite subject is urban landscapes, often with water as a backdrop, such as ports with colorful boats moored, or houses reflected on a river. He is fascinated with the warm colors of the Mediterranean countries as much as with the subtle grays of the North. With the artist's personal technique, including an increasing influence of Cubism, he renders the beauty and atmosphere of each place. The misty canals of Amsterdam or the stark whiteness of the houses of Greece allow him to express his creativity in the style he has mastered. See all available.

Joy of Paris via the Brushstrokes of the Pessemiers

Blair & Laurie Pessemier are fine art painters, with a love for Paris. Today we have new works, including the two shown here. They travel to Conn., down to N. Carolina, and other U.S. venues. Their focus is Giverny, Monet's Bridge, Luxembourg Gardens, and everyday life: strollers, dog lovers, board game in the park. Sometimes it is a close-up of flowers, or a historical building. Blair's roots are in architecture & design and he's a registered Architect. Laurie has degrees in fine art & art history. They painted in Seattle before moving to Paris. Laurie won the mayor's prize for painting on the Champs Elysees in 2000. In addition to painting, Blair produces tableware & furniture. Laurie & Blair also offer tours celebrating the art, culture, cuisine of Paris.
