Daring Perspectives by French Artist Dr. Caudron

The mind's eye of a doctor and pilot...images from the sky. Dr. Caudron's (French diabetes physician) paintings are based on a perfect match between the diverse structures of motifs - through skies forcefully crushed to grounds which offer surprising perspectives - and, while the artist is wandering on the chromatic scale with enthralling boldness, there is nothing he dares not do. Such balance in his works allows the eye to travel on the painted surface and trace the detail of some knife-shaped pattern. Such a feeling of the painting, such a magnificent spirit can rarely be seen and the combination of the two render a dazzling result, which makes one, under the spell, forget that is was achieved. Balances & Colors by British Art by Roger Bigg

Welcome to the new oil paintings by British artist and advertising exec Roger Bigg. Very simply, he said he paints because “ I just love the excitement of filling that white space, seeing the image grow, creating the balances between shapes and colours. Making the choice between realism and abstraction.” From a very young age of 3 or 4 young Bigg began painting, and by age 6 he won a painting competition for the BBC. He spent many hours “in my own world of drawing and colour.” Bigg was creative director for several international advertising agencies, such as McCann's, WPP and Publis. At age 18 at the Canterbury College of Arts for Fine Arts, graphic design and architecture, he was fortunate to have paintings hung at the Royal Academy of Arts. See his available works.

Original Le Pont de Vey by Paulemile Pissarro

A new addition to the gallery is entitled Le Pont de Vey by Paulemile Pissarro (1884-1972). Paulemile was the fifth & youngest son of Camille Pissarro, born in Eragny close to Giverny, home of his father's closest friend, Claude Monet. He was 19 when his father died. As he grew older, it was to Monet that Paulemile gravitated, adopting him as a father figure, teacher, friend. And it was Monet, as much or more than his father, who was to influence his art as the youngest Pissarro yearned to follow in his father's footsteps. He & his second wife bought a home near Clecy on the Orne River in the area of hills & valleys known as Swiss Normandy. There they raised three children: two sons & a daughter. His oldest son, H. Claude also became a painter. In 1967, Paulemile had his first one-man show in the US at Wally Findlay Galleries in NY, which led to wide recognition & success in this country.

Lelia Pissarro's Reflections of Venice Waterways

Met the Lovely Lelia Pissarro and her husband David Stern recently, where she shared the original watercolor with us. Let us know if any interest. What do artists say about artists? Says Lelia: "There are two sorts of artist: the very social ones who are seen and heard in cocktail parties; then there are the anti-social artists, who can only be satisfied when in their studio working, and who are miserable the second they are away from the development of their work. The need to spend long hours alone in my studio is crucial and fundamental to me. A fully committed artist, an artist who lives for her art, needs to adopt and adhere to a religious life, a monastic life of discipline and dedication. Parties, social gatherings, chit-chat and small talk are the enemy of the artist – they dilute my thoughts, pollute the thinking process, steal my time."

Marc Chagall Odyssey Litho & Bible Etching

Shown here are is an original etching (right), and a unsigned litho by Marc Chagall. The etching is from the Bible Series. In 1974-75 Chagall created the hand signed lithos for "The Odyssey," in an edition of 250 and sell for many $5000; in 1989 an unsigned edition was produced of 2500. Shown here is a 11x14.5 for $295. Marc Chagall's paintings are inspired by themes from the Bible. and include elements from folklore and from religious life in Russia. Israel, which Chagall first visited in 1931 for the opening of the Tel Aviv Art Museum, is likewise endowed with some of Chagall's work, most notably the 12 stained glass windows at Hadassah Hospital and wall decorations at the Knesset. He was also one of very few artists to exhibit work at the Louvre in their lifetime.
