Poppy Field by France's Dominique Dorie

Just came in, a darling little 11x11 Poppy fild by Dominique Dorie. Dominique Dorié was born in Versailles in 1958. At the age of sixteen he began working in the Louvre in a conservation capacity as a restorer of sculptures. Dominique Dorie enjoyed the opportunities his location presented him, most especially, the chance to study the many masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum. Although Dominique Dorié had little free time, he felt compelled to sketch.

Breathtaking Seascape By Dominique Dorie

New works have surfaced from master impressionist Dominique Dorie. His creative works are collected worldwide, and reflects the timeless substance of a vast work of French impressionism. The artist who hung his work on the fences surrounding the church of St. Germain des Pres has traveled a long distance. In 1985 he exhibited his work in the Salon de Criel and in the Salon d'Orly. He was awarded the Prix du Salon in the latter exhibition. In 1984 and 1985 he exhibited in the prestigious Salon d'Automne. In 1986 he won the Medaille d'Or at an exhibition in Deauville. He has since become one of the most highly regarder painters of his time and is listed in the prestigious Benezit Encyclopedia, 2000 Edition. We have a strong collection of works by Dorie.

Monte Carlo Litho by Pablo Picasso

Westport River Gallery has a Pablo Picasso lithograph from the 1982 Marina Picasso Collection entitled "Monte Carlo." It is beautifully framed, and ready to be hung. This piece is pencil numbered from a limited edition of 500. Paper measures 23" x  29.5". Printed on high quality archival paper with generous margins. In mint condition, no tears stains or creases. This is an image which was chosen by Picasso’s granddaughter, Marina Picasso, from the paintings she inherited from the Pablo Picasso estate. One item only; priced at only $1500. Born October 25, 1881, Spain, Pablo Picasso, became one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century and the creator of Cubism. A Spanish expatriate painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and stage designer, Picasso was considered radical in his work.

Jean Claude Tron: "Images Radiate Warmth"

"I do not paint formal landscapes that represent a particular place which then binds us. I prefer a different world, a world that radiates warmth and happiness, leaving space to dream..." Jean Claude Tron is passionate about the southern region of France, in particular Provence, and this remains his essential source of inspiration. The extravagance of the colours in his palette betrays the influence of Fauvist Expressionism, featuring brilliant yellow, deep azure blues, strong reds, shades of violet and just a touch of vivid green. His canvases are characterised by simplicity of form which represents the natural order of the countryside, while the thickly applied blocks of colour make the fields vibrate with light.

 

Dubord: Rich Tones of an Impressionists' Palette

Jean Pierre Dubord is known for his ability to capture the subtleties of light and color unique to each seasons. In 1970, he had his first exhibition of approximately thirty paintings in Rouen , a show which was highly praised by art critics. In addition to an annual show in Rouen, he has also exhibited in Bourdeaux, Le Havre, La Rochelle, Osaka, Quebec and in the major, famous salons of Paris. Dubord has his own original approach to painting. His palette is rich in its tones, and is fresh and uplifting. His work is so highly regarded that he is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards.

Kerfily's Mediterranean Color Harmonies

New works are here by French Impressionist Kerfily. Inspired by the Mediterranean, the South of France, Corsica, and Greece, Kerfily's enthusiasm for his art is fully evident in his windswept seascapes and timeless, sun-dappled village scenes. Noted for his power to evoke emotion, opulence of light and distinctive color harmonies. Kerfily translates the ordinary moment into the magical, inviting us to be revitalized by the world's simple pleasures.

Michel Ferran's Unique Composition

One more beautiful floral just landed at the Westport River Gallery by the late Michel Ferran. Born in 1943 close to Narbonne, Michel Ferran, photographer and painter since childhood, decided in 1992 to open a workshop and consequently became a professional painter, primarily focusing on the landscapes of Provence. His painting evolved quickly to a purified stylization of the subjects and forms. Working the paste and the colors together, it carved its fabric of a pallet containing blue, ochres, yellows and reds, highlighting the light to create unique effects. His talent was noticed by collectors and publishers. His pictures were then collected across Europe, and the United States, until he passed away in 2003.

Pathways to Westport from Ecuador

You may be in Westport, but you can stroll through the doorways of Quito, Ecuador and let your imagination continue the journey. Enter through a blue, green, red or brown doorway. Warm earth tones of the buildings and plazas punctuated by richly colored doorways entice the viewer to enter into another time and place. Jorge Morales takes us into the charming world of cobblestones, courtyards and sunlight that are the hallmark of his hometown, Quito, Jorge Morales, member of the Ecuadorian Culture House-Extension Ruminahui, has had his work displayed in galleries throughout Venezuela and Ecuador.

E.J. Paprocki's Lillies Float Into Westport

New works are now available at the Westport River Gallery by Internationally collected artist E. J. Paprocki. An avid painter since childhood, he studied Business and Fine Art at Loyola University. After receiving his BA, Paprocki augmented his formal art studies with extensive travels in Europe, painting and visiting the great museums. Exhibited widely, he has been geatured in 14 one-man exhibitions and many prestigious group shows on two continents. His work has received critical acclaim and has been featured in several national magazines including Art of the West, Southwest Art, and Gulfshore Life. His oils hang in more than 1000 public, private & corporate collections in over a dozen countries around the world.

Hudson Style Seascape by H.S. Kim

Hae Suk Kim, born in Korea, is known for her vibrant, colorful seascapes, powerfully billowing skies, and subtle shades of blue and gray that gently entice the viewer into a picture of calm. She works on board, taking control of the images and colors, creating a scene that begs to be entered, savored and enjoyed. Her work is in a number of collections, and she has been involved in many exhibitions in New England. She has won several awards for her work, and has studied with Sidney Simon and Frank Mason. We have one picture available.

Lecomte's Works Available in Westport

French Canadian Nadine Lecomte has a unique technique, creating soft and colorful works featuring her native Brittany. Later, when she began painting in oil, vibrant images of Provence and Africa became the primary subjects of her work. Since 1993, she has exhibited her paintings predominantly in Brittany, Provence, Paris, China, New York and Westport. Her work is bold, brash and can easily fit into any room, office or study. She paints florals with a pallet knife, and creates whisps of colors. The Westport River Gallery has several of her works.

Alain Bordier Delights with Blazing Colors

Alain Bordier, born in 1968 in France, is a passionate of Provence from which he translates the colors magnificently. His blazing paint with the knife reveals us a lively artist and of an outstanding temperament. His subjects are emphasized by brilliant tones, lines and impressive volumes. The landscapes of wild areas alternate with the bright still lives, almost in movement. On the canvas, only a few reference points are left, such as the reefs filled with color. He then slashes the lavander, makes the wild grass burst, sculpts the mountains, and clears the skies where thundery concerts will take place. The yellows and oranges are the protagonists.His works are the object of numerous exhibitions in France and Europe, but also abroad, New Zealand, Russia, Japan, China, Canada or Australia where they take away one very striking success.

European Lithographs Now Available

The Westport River Gallery has 14 new European lithographs by a variety of arrtists from around the world. At left is a color lithograph by listed artist Victor Zarou. Zarou is known for his scenes of European landscapes, many of which have been recreated for posters. This one is the Riviera; each is numbered, limited edition, and in excellent condition. Seaside with Richard Poumelin

Richard Poumelin began to draw in his native France when he was 16. Today he is recognized as one of the contemporary rising stars. Self taught Poumelin is inspired by many of the impressionist and post-impressionist masters. In addition to his acrylic and watercolor paintings, his art is expressed in his music as an accomplished guitarist. His landscapes, still lifes, and his musical themed paintings are filled with a spiritual exercise…filled with powerful harmonies and magic reality, and sensitive serenity. Poumelin possesses a meticulous awareness of his craft and his art. He remains faithful to the motif, to the object, to the unmistakable poetic elements. Westport River Gallery has three of his works on display.

Crisp Images of Bruges & Paris by Kaprielian

The original oils by Armenian-born Yetvart Kaprielianare lively, crisp, and show a love Paris and its surrounding country. Yetvart Kaprielian has been listed in the E. Benezit, the prestigious world-recognized "Who's Who" of painters and sculptors since 1999. Born in 1959, Yetvart Kaprielian has been painting since 22. He travels throughout the Ile-de-France, Normandy, Brittany, Provence, and the riverbanks of Seine. Kaprielian expresses through touches of luminous and sparkling colors a harmony of reflections. The Westport River Gallery has about 8 of his works available, from France and Belgium.

Lavender Fields by Alex Perez

Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1946, Perez is a fourth generation of artists. After graduating from the ‘Academy of Fine Arts’ in Santiago, he worked in his father's studio - the Ibero-Chilean painter Eduardo Perez - where he acquired most of his artistic knowledge and skill. On his father’s side, Alex Perez is the fourth generation of artists trained in fields ranging from painting to architecture. His Spanish ancestors restored murals and frescos in the ancient cathedrals of 18th century Spain. Perez inherited his love for music from his mother's family, of which came the Philharmonic Conductor Victor Tevah.

Zheng's Exclusive Tibetan Impressions in Westport

Westport River Gallery now has about 30 watercolor paintings and oil sketches by Asian master Zheng. These are reflections of the final works he has completed, and priced to move. They are unique, personal, and focused on a way of life fast disappearing as the Tibetans battle the Chinese. His extraordinary works, portraying the heartland of Tibet, not only illustrate the beauty and simplicity of daily survival in a small village, but they create a vivacious mood that captures the intense emotions of the human experience. Born in Shanghai in 1957, Zheng studied at the Central Arts Institute in Beijing and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Since 1981 he has created over thirty books and was awarded major prizes by the China National Art Preview for his illustrations. His work has sold worldwide, including the major auction houses.
