New Impressionist Works by Antonelle

When not painting the landscapes of Pennsylvania or the seascapes of Long Island, Patrick Antonelle portrays the many facades and moods of New York City, Central Park and their environs. They are depictions of his favorite New York architecture in various seasons rendered in his own Pointillistic- Impressionistic style. In his art, prints and posters, he often resurrects nostalgic New York scenes that have been long forgotten. Drawing from the majestic New York City skyline, Antonelle imbues the powerful skyscrapers of a modern city with nature's dressing of winter's snow and spring's blossoms. He takes an evening scene and magically, with the use of color, dissolves the darkness into watery reflections on the rain-slicked street. Antonelle captures all the seasons and the poignant nostalgic moments are brought to life by combining nature and architecture. The result is beautiful harmony.

From the Mist and the Dawn by HM Saffer

New works are now available by HM Saffer, who is unique as his art, with influences ranging from Van Gogh and Klimt to Signac. In the end his creations are more Safferism than anything else. His works are generally on board, where he controls the flow of his oils, and each is full of vibrant color. HM Saffer is just as comfortable with painting images of London and Amalfi, to Provence and reflective pools of colorfully littered leaves.

Nature's Beauty by Eugene Paprocki

Eugene Paprocki’s paintings at the Westport River Gallery evoke the timeless beauty of nature, a witness to the integration of mankind’s imaginings and natures gifts: a simple brick path, a plain iron gate, sailboats that mirror the contours of the clouds and seas. During visits to many of the great museums in the US and Europe, Paprocki was drawn to the familiar genius of the 19th century Impressionists, and he admired Monet, Pissarro, and Sisley. Through careful study, Paprocki found direction in his own artistic vision. Eugene Paprocki's subject matter evolved from cityscape to the country, the gardens the rural path, distant sailboats, the floral still life.

Join us 6-8 pm June 24 (tonight) at the Westport River Gallery to explore the world of the sea otter (also dinosaurs & jungle cover). Rothman is a natural science illustrator who has joined botanical expeditions to the neotropics & the Samoan archipelago. His work has been in major publications & also used for scientific purposes. His art reflects both his work for The New York Times Science section and his continued collaboration with the Institute of Systematic Botany at the NY Botanical Garden. Other works. Mona Takes us to Vermont & Westport

Mona's works are fresh, defined, and take you from Vermont barns to Westport's famed Country Playhouse (right). She create hazy sunlit pathways, to country scenes with barns and fresh meadows. Her background includes work with some of the world's top architects, and her art published in top architectural and consumer publications. Mona's works can be found in the collections of Ron Meyer, then-President/COO of Universal Studios; Eric Idle, writer/actor of Monty Python, and Christopher Plummer.

Doug Zider Captures Coastal Regions

Doug Zider turns to the water for true inspiration, with runs to the shore packed with endless coastal settings. He has studied Plein Air and composition with acclaimed landscapist Joseph McGurl at his studio in Mass., applying field techniques to the studio work. He relyies on one's eye and the understanding of nature's purposeful way. Doug's original work is in galleries in Maine, NY, and the Westport River Gallery in Connecticut. Over time at NBC he has participated in a range of creative teams in entertainment and sports. As a graphic designer for Saturday Night Live from the early 80's to today, to many sporting events and venues, MLB, NFL, AFL, NBA, NHL, tennis, Nascar and The Summer & Winter Olympic Games.
