Reverse Glass Oils by Milton and Sue Bond

Visit the mini exhibit of reverse glass works by renowned American artist Milton Bond, and his daughter Sue, who often worked beside him. Milton passed away this year, and was descended from Sir William Bond, who in England in the 1500’s built the largest ship of the fleet of Henry VIII. Milton grew up assisting his grandfather, Captain Ashabel Bond, who owned the Bond & Currier fleet on Long Island Sound, in the operation and sailing of four sailing and three steam vessels. Sue worked closely with her dad on reverse glass painting, and today she chiefly paints New England scenes.

Scottish, English Seascapes by Stanley Andrews

Five oil paintings are now available by the late Stanley Andrews, who comes to the Westport River Gallery in Connecticut, from England. He had been a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists for many years. He had exhibited widely in the Midlands and South of England, including the Singer and Friedlander Watercolor Exhibition and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolor. He also taught many classes in painting, influencing the next generation of English painters.

Retriever, Pugs by Sporting Artist Henry Wilkinson

Several new ethings just came in from England. British artist Henry Wilkinson works alone in his studio and workshop in rural Kent, still producing his limited editions entirely single-handed. From origination, to hand engraving his metal plates and eventually printing and finishing the editions, the work is entirely his own. He even produces his own printing inks.

English Country Scenes in Westport

Two new small original works have arrived at the Westport River Gallery by English artist Stephen Hawkins. Hawkins paints at his studio in Hurstpierpoint in West Sussex. He is based at the foot of the South Downs, with excellent communication links to Brighton, Haywards Heath, Crawley, Gatwick and London. He specializes in landscapes, English country scenes and farm animals painted in oils. Eahc is 10x12.

Lithographs by Andre Bourrie Available

Several new signed. limited edition (125 only) lithographs are on the way to the Westport River Gallery by famed French artist Andre Bourrie, known for magnificent paintings of the French countryside and sea. His works are acclaimed for their brilliant use of sundrenched, white light and rich, iridescent palette. His paintings are in collections worldwife. Here is Courtain Marin, 18x22.

New Works of Land & Sea by Zider

Master maine artist Doug Zider creates sweeping nautical vistas, powerful clipper ships majestically gliding over churning waterways, and small personal craft reflected in the sunset. His new works affirm his standing among those who choose drama and detail to call attention to lovely skies, clipper ships and seas. See more works.

 

Provence Highlighted by new Dorie Oils

Several new original oils have arrived at the Westport River Gallery from the studio of Dominique Dorie, including the 12x12 at left. Click for others available. Dominique Dorié was born in Versailles in 1958. At the age of 16 he began working in the Louvre in a conservation capacity as a restorer of sculptures. Dominique Dorie enjoyed the opportunities his location presented him, most especially, the chance to study the many masterpieces hanging on the walls of the great museum.
