The Westport River Gallery presents a mini-exhibit entitled "Four Centuries of Pissarro" starting Feb 14 that includes 12 pictures from four generations of the famed internationally known Pissarro family. This also includes one picture (see this page) never seen outside the family's home, by
Paulemile. This came from his widow. The Pissarro family spans three centuries, starting in the 19th century wHen Camille Pissarro was born. The exhibit includes Camille, three of his sons, grandson
H. Claude, and great grand daughter
Lelia. Born July 10, 1830 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Camille Pissarro was sent to Paris to study as a boy, where he earned acclaim for his budding talent as an artist. He was obligated to return to St. Thomas in 1847 to help his father run his general store, but by 1855, he had convinced his parents to allow him to pursue his dream of becoming a painter.
