French artist Jean Claude Tron is passionate about the southern region of France, Provence, which remains his source of inspiration (this is also true of many artists, including Elisabeth Estivalet). The extravagance of the colors he uses betrays the influence of Fauvist Expressionism, with brilliant yellow, deep blues, strong reds, shades of violet and vivid green. His canvases are characterized by simplicity of form which represents the natural order of the countryside, while the thickly applied blocks of color make the fields vibrate with light. Here is one picture available at the Westport River Gallery.
