Allen Shufflebotham

New works have arrived in the Westport River Gallery by British artist Allen Shufflebotham. He  was recognized as a talented artist when he was a schoolboy. Having left school he went into engineering but always remained focused on art. In 1967 he sustained a sporting injury that sidelined him from his employment. This gave him the time to pursue his interest in painting and from that time on, he has built up a reputation as an accomplished artist winning national prizes. Click for other works.

Rockefeller Collection's Giacometti Lamps

Tete de Femme Lamps

We now exclusively have the famed Giacometti lamps: Tete de Femme (head of a woman), pair of Figural Lamps. Two are available and one is on display. The originals were conceived by Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) for the French decorator Jean Michel Frank and cast by Alberto's brother Diego (1902-1985). 

The casts were subsequently sold to American Artist Jasper Johns. Delicate modeling and exquisite craftsmanship characterize this remarkable pair of original lamps from the Nelson Rockefeller Collection. 

These are part of a collection of furniture items collaboratively designed by Alberto and Diego Giacometti. They come from the famous "Rockefeller Collection" which were 1970 castings from the originals conceived and executed by The Roman Bronze Works under the direction of the former New York Governor & Vice President of the United States, Nelson A. Rockefeller. 

The lamps have the signature "Diego" clearly etched into the bases. This will be on display for one week, so if you are interested, call us at 203-226-6934.

Holiday Gifts of Glass by Mundy Hepburn & Nils

The Circus Exhibit Comes to Town

In the spirit of the political season, and in the area where master showman P.T. Barnum housed his world famous circus, the Westport River Gallery presented a unique Circus exhibit this weekend entitled "The Election is over; Let's get on with the Circus." The exhibit features more than two dozen original lithographs that date back to the mid 1900s from Ringling Brothers and other big tops. The original lithographs feature elephants and horses, to "curiosities," clowns and trapeze artists.

Bronze Elephant Duo Available

We have one more elephant set available in cast bronze. This limited ediion (99 sets only) is available for only $1200. Sometimes an artist's heart is awakened at an early age. Such was the case with Mason-Adams. Her muse first appeared in the form of a horse. An avid equestrian since the age of five, she was consumed with the effort of capturing and portraying the spirit of this magnificent animal. Now, years later, having obtained a formal education in fine art with training in draftsmanship and painting, this passionate interpreter of exaggerated realism has let her talent and imagination flow into bronze. 

Yetvart Kaprielian Delights with Paris Scenes

Since 1984, Yetvart Kaprielian has regularly been shown in several galleries in Paris and at exhibitions in France and abroad. Most recently Yetvart Kaprielian work has become a part of the Royal Family of Morocco. His honors and awards include: Chevalier et Academien Associe, Art de l'Academe, International de Greci Marino, St. Prize de Salon de Roissy en France. Yetvart Kaprielian is among the few selected to be in the international registry of the world's best artists, E.
