  • Westport River Gallery is in Westport, Connecticut, 30 minutes from NYC, and located along the Saugatuck River. The gallery is at the junction of the Post Rd. (Rte 1) and Riverside Ave. (Rte 33). We are accessible from both the Conn. Turnpike (I-95) and the Merritt Parkway (Rte 15). Both intersect with Route 33. We are open Wed.- Fri. (11-4:30); Sat., 11-5; Sun. SHUFFLEBOTHAM, Allen (British Impressionism)

Allen_shufflebotham British artist Allen Shufflebotham was recognized as a talented artist when he was a schoolboy. Having left school he went into engineering but always remained focused on art. In 1967 he sustained a sporting injury that sidelined him from his employment. This gave him the time to pursue his interest in painting and from that time on, he has built up a reputation as an accomplished artist winning national prizes. The interest in aviation comes from his father who spent many years in the Royal Air Force.  He has been a member of the Guild of Aviation Artists society since 1977 winning the Flight International Trophy in 1982, the Aviation painting of the year in 1992 and the Wilkinson Sword on two occasions. In 2008 he became the Winsor & Newton sponsored award winner with the "Best Group of Paintings" at the Mall Galleries in London. Allen has been successful in winning national prizes in Aviation art with the Guild of Aviation Artists. Recently he has exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists. As you view through the gallery you will see a wide selection of paintings from aviation, marine, landscape and motoring art. His impulse is to paint in the English tradition and he has been influenced by the art of the late Edward Seago.
