The Circus Exhibit Comes to Town

In the spirit of the political season, and in the area where master showman P.T. Barnum housed his world famous circus, the Westport River Gallery presented a unique Circus exhibit this weekend entitled "The Election is over; Let's get on with the Circus." The exhibit features more than two dozen original lithographs that date back to the mid 1900s from Ringling Brothers and other big tops. The original lithographs feature elephants and horses, to "curiosities," clowns and trapeze artists.

Bronze Elephant Duo Available

We have one more elephant set available in cast bronze. This limited ediion (99 sets only) is available for only $1200. Sometimes an artist's heart is awakened at an early age. Such was the case with Mason-Adams. Her muse first appeared in the form of a horse. An avid equestrian since the age of five, she was consumed with the effort of capturing and portraying the spirit of this magnificent animal. Now, years later, having obtained a formal education in fine art with training in draftsmanship and painting, this passionate interpreter of exaggerated realism has let her talent and imagination flow into bronze. 

New Henry Wilkinson Originals Arrive in Westport

New works are now available by famed British artist Henry Wilkinson. For more of his new works, click here. British Sporting Artist Henry Wilkinson is 88 this year, and still paints his original oils, his etchings and dry point. He was born into an artistic family, his father having been taught to paint by John Ruskin, eventually became the Headmaster of Winchester College of Art. It was whilst living in Winchester that the young Wilkinson learned the first skills of Gun Making, climbing out of the scullery window in the evenings to work, unknown to his farther, at the famous gunmakers 'Hamond of Winchester'. It was at Hammonds that he first became fascinated by engraving, learning from the craftsmen who decorated the metalwork on the hand-made firearms. Today Henry Wilkinson is one of the last remaining qualified Muzzle Loading' gun maker in the country.  Master Etcher and Artist Henry Wilkinson is also referenced on the website of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
